Last Film You Saw

The Crow, the new one, absolute shite 3/10, far too long with the story all over the place. Stick to the original.
I watched that last week, it got a 5/10 and 3 of those were for not butchering the original by copying it.

The whole point of the original was that you had empathy for Eric after his wife was raped and murdered, this time around and yes, there was a hint that Eric had been mistreated in his youth and she had been corrupted by a pawn of the devil but you had no empathy for the pair of drugged up skanks.

Spent far too long on building the relationship between Eric and Shelly & then didn't have time to show Eric learning his new abilities and putting the fear into his adversaries.
lets face it the original isn't some kind of masterpiece like its made out to be

If anyone sees Megalopolis I'd love to read your reviews. Critics mostly hate the film.
Saw it last night (there were about 6 of us in my opening night screening…which doesn’t bode well). It’s mental - no wonder Coppola couldn’t find a studio to finance it - think a two and a bit hour angry rant by an old man about how shit and risk-free modern cinema is through the medium of Roman politics and Ayn Rand. It’s so slow it can only be that way to alienate its own audience. It’s so bad it eventually becomes fascinating and by the end I was more invested in it than I have been by standard disposable Hollywood junk, of which this year has been especially bad, so at least he has a point.

In a violent nature.
What a pile of steaming monkey jizz. It has no redeeming features. Long boring shots of the back of someone walking through the woods, no suspense, clichéd, terrible acting, very poor dialogue and some of the scenes are just dumb and comical.
0/10

Yep and see it as an easy cash cow on the tails of the original. Trouble is Hollywood certainly at the cinema is dying on its arse, the superhero bubble has burst (apart from Deadpool 3) no one is going to the cinema anymore and costs are rocketing plus streaming taking lots of the audience. So they go for easy money by just regurgitating old IPs, AI could be the answer that’s why they are shitting themselves, you or I could do a film put on you tube abd make money off it for very little outlay.

This year has been a pretty lousy one so far for big Hollywood studios but they’ve survived worse - the mid-80s had far lower ticket sales than now for many of the same reasons as now - loads of people couldn’t afford it, new technology (home video in that case) and the fact that the stuff Hollywood was making at the time, for the most part, was garbage. It was also when I started going to the cinema weekly, so I remember how empty cinemas were back then. It’s uncanny really - I came out of Deadpool and Wolverine (a film so cynical and designed by focus group it made me depressed about the future of Hollywood) and said to my mate ‘Everything about this year feels like 1986.’

I think the thing that everyone is struggling with is that films are no longer original. Stephen King films have been leeched to death now. The Shining prequel is pretty good though which is quite recent. It is called Doctor Sleep. Most of the rest are just multi million pound remakes of films with so much CGI. I watched the Roadhouse remake a few months ago and whilst the original wasn't great, the scene where the top doorman was executed was pretty shocking. The remake had laughable cgi scenes similar to stuff you would see 20 years ago along with a few cameos that could not act for shit but got paid a lot (for a cameo). I think the days of stuntmen/editing are disappearing and it is being over ruled by cgi shit.
