Last Film You Saw

Agreed with most of what you are saying.stunning film and HFs best acting in decades. Mrs HOTM doesn't care for the first film but loved this one. My 25 yr old son and girlfriend not seen first one but loved it also. A truly brilliant film and an intelligent look at universal themes. I found some of it highly emotional, and the ending was well judged. A grown up film that takes days to digest and reflect on. Only downside was the soundtrack. Whilst being highly effective it was not even close to the original.
I've never understood the, er, "massive" (!) cult following the original acquired. I must have tried watching it four or five times down the years but, to me, meh. I guess I was out of the office the day the memo went around telling everyone it was a good film. And yes; I know well that I'm in the minority. Fair enough. I'll live with that. And I'm guessing that, seeing as they've got Harrison Ford out of the retirement home, there's not a lot of point me going to see this one when I didn't "get" the original.

The original got a pretty luke warm response from the critics and a lot of people didn't 'get' it first time round, and to an extent that included myself. But i watched it a few times more and each time kept picking up bits i missed first time around.
Ended up watching the director's cut (just prior to general release) in the cinema field at Glastonbury stoned off my face, which was a great experience and probably made me think the original was years ahead of its time (in a film making sense).

The documentary of it's making called 'Dangerous Days' is a good watch also, but quite long (i think over 3 hours).

Final Cut is the one to see before the new one imho...just back from seeing BR 2049 which was stunning visually and a very very good sequel. I'll be taking a second viewing for sure.
