Last Film You Saw

Was it? Not the one I watched, think there's a few on here need to grow up :)
So a witch that doesn't get explained where she gets her powers suddenly gets inherited onto a family and causes havoc, she's then chased by 17 kids (benny hill style) because the people trying to escape from her clutches snap a twig.
It was absolute fucking shite, it should have been labelled as a comedy.
Thank you, it was horrendous

Together was decent though, saw that this week

Just watched Superman, just God awful crap. The leads have zero charisma or chemistry, the fking dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trying to bring a Guardians vibe, as out of place as carragaher at a Mensa convention. Superman Returns was bad but looks a high watermark compared to this mess, every one of the cast seemed to be reading from a different script.

I remember the Sam Raimi Spiderman films of the early 00s, good fun at the time. I watched the 2 Andrew Garfield films, whilst he was good the other characters weren't especially memorable. Finally, watched the Home trilogy with Tom Holland, he is very believable as both Peter and Spidey. Loved all three Spidey's in No Way Home along with the old villains. Was pleasantly surprised by the first spider verse film, great plot.

As nearly a FOC, as a kid the marvel characters were in order of interest Fantastic Four, Hulk and Spiderman, none of the others made any impression on me as a kid. As I got older, X-Men were in the mix. Just think all that marvel avengers stuff is just bombastic shite.

I will always love Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy as they were by and large, decent films rather than just superhero films.

No way of getting over the shorts with the Hulk, never has been never will.

Close second is superman's cunning disguise, a pair of fucking spectacles, not even shades. Lon Chaney he was not.

Dunno about that. I've been told I look intelligent when I wear my glasses. Folk don't say that when I don't.

Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes
Japanese film from 2020. Low budget time travel flick which I thought was very well executed and enjoyable.

It has been a very good year so far for my favourite genre, horror. Round-up of the films i've seen to date :

Weapons: definitely one of those films not to take too seriously and just go with the ride. It's brutal at times but does have some laugh out loud moments to lift the tension. Great acting from the ensemble cast, especially Julia Garner and Josh Brolin. The build up is better than the pay-off, as is the case with a lot of horrors but still very enjoyable and i was never bored. 7.5/10

The Ugly Step-sister:
My favourite horror of the year - a twisted re-working of the Cinderella fairytale from the perspective of one of the ugly sisters. A satire on the beauty industry and obsession with cosmetic surgery. Really stylish direction, striking visuals, great sound-track, and some very funny but at the same time grotesque scenes. 8/10

28 Years Later:
Quite disappointed with this - it lacks cohesion and seems like two or three separate films stitched together. Thematic nods to Apocalype Now/Heart of Darkness with the Ralph Fiennes character. The ending was a true wtaf moment. Apparently the first of a trilogy - i won't be rushing to the cinema to see the next instalment 6/10

Bring Her Back:
Latest effort from the Philippou brothers who shot to fame with their debut film Talk To Me which I found a bit of a disappointment after all the hype. This was a much more solid effort - some genuinely creepy scenes and a stand-out performance from Sally Hawkins. The kid playing Oliver must be traumatised from some of the scenes he had to do. 7/10

Final Destination: Bloodlines:
Expected this to be hot garbage but it was actually quite watchable. The opening set-piece in the sky-line restaurant was especially well done. Art imitates reality with the MRI Scanner scene given a recent true event. 6.5/10

Companion:
Social satire taking aim at toxic masculinity and privilege, that might not sound too appealing but its sharp and witty script, together with some gory death scenes elavates it to something quite decent. 7/10

"F1: The Movie"

Yeah, there's gonna be clichés, it's inevitable... But for someone who doesn't really enjoy sporting films, I really did like this one! That's interesting for me as I hated "Top Gun" that this one based from, but I much preferred this one. I know others have said 'you have to watch it on the big screen', but my TV is pretty f'kin big and the actual driving lost its interest for me shortly after starting. My interest piqued at the 'mysterious cowboy' aspect which was confirmed in a throwaway comment in the film.

Never thought that a cowboy film would be the spine of formula one drama!

Pretty good.

Excellent summary but can’t believe you’ve omitted Sinners.
