Last Film You Saw

Twilight's last gleaming, from 1977, a rather under the radar thriller. Cast included Burt Lancaster as a disgraced air force general who takes over a missile silo and threatens WWIII, Joseph Cotten, Paul Winfield, Burt Young, Richard Widmark, Charles Durning and a whole host of very recognisable faces from the 70s.

Great contrast between the claustrophobic silo with 3 ex military types in a stand off with the forces outside, against the politicking of the President's cabinet. I must praise the rather tubby Charles Durning as the President, by turns calculating, blustery and cowardly. He was a real life war hero of d day too. Great film amongst many great political thrillers of that era. The parallax view and executive decision are also highly recommended.

Under the skin 2013, a different kettle of fish, scarlet Johansson as a shape shifting alien who bumps off Scottish men. Odd doesn't really cover it , weird art house vibe.

I think you can tell which one made an impression on me! Think there's a lot of interesting stuff on Talking Pictures TV via sky.

I read the book Under The Skin years ago. Terrible. That's why I have never bothered with the film

Watched Ballerina last night. It’s been spawned from the John Wick series (he makes an appearance) and was pretty well done. Ridiculous plot line, but lots of action and a high body count. Must’ve set a world record for deaths by flame thrower.
Enjoyable nonsense 7/10
In contrast, recently watched A River Runs Through It (1992) apparently critically acclaimed, with beautiful Montana scenery but a plot so boring that fly fishing was an action highlight. Glacially slow-moving film that bored me rigid. Montana landscape 10/10 Film 2/10

Just downloading Twilights Last Gleaming now, can't say I have watched it and it looks decent.

Personally, I thought the franchise made an error with "The Ballerina". I thought they should carried on with 'Sofia' (Halle Berry) from the "John Wick 3: Parabellum" film.

I thought she had a much better scope as a character and the interaction with her dogs was spectacular.

Opportunity missed there.

Outlaw

Sean Bean plays a disillusioned paratrooper returning from Iraq to find things have got more violent at home and the bad guys are winning.
So he forms a vigilante group to tackle the scum.

Pretty cheaply made but I enjoyed it.

Watched 'Caught Stealing'

It's not a bad film but the trailer gives the impression that it's a light hearted action comedy when it's anything but that.
It's actually a pretty violent drama with a few funny moments thrown in. Pretty formulaic stuff and easy to follow so I'd give it 6/10
