Last manager who City fans really wanted sacked

Been said loads already but Hughes first and foremost. Wanted him gone before we even got to Xmas that first season. Robinho and Ireland gave us some decent moments at least.

Pearce - utterly clueless, it’s a miracle we stayed in the league in 2007. Mpenza was a master stroke.

Pellegrini mentioned a lot too which is a weird one. Remember talking about how we needed a change barely a year after he won us the league. As soon as Chelsea built up a lead that season we went into purgatory until Pep arrived. That 2-2 Arsenal game was an awful experience on the last day. Felt very sorry for MP as the stadium emptied, but at the same time was furious at the limp performance and (seemingly) having thrown CL qualification away.
I felt a bit sorry for him but he brought it on himself and the club should've known it was a shit idea to host that goodbye ceremony thing anyway.

I left on the final whistle, couldn't be arsed waiting around for a bore fest to sign off one of the most tedious seasons of football in years.

Probably Frank Clark after we had been beaten at home by Bury. Seemed like a nice bloke, good ex pro but seemed to have lost the plot at City after doing well at Forest.

I`m quite surprised that Pearce has taken 6 posts to be named yet.

Last manager who City fans really wanted sacked

Hughes came after Pearce so would be the last manager we wanted sacked, I presume everybody hated the rag twat, I did.

Though if Hughes didn't exist I'd agree fully with your Pearce selection.

:)

Hughes was basically probably a decent mid table manager.
He bought in amongst others. Barry, Kompany, Zab, DeJong, Lescott and a fair bit of dross his dealings were far from perfect. At times we played some decent football particularly when Ireland was on his game and we had some good matches including thrashing Portsmouth and beating Chelsea. Equally he wasn't really up to managing the better players we were getting. Glad he went but I don't think he was as poor as Pearce, just listen to what Nedum has to say, basically he was pretty clueless for a premier league manager
hughes did insist we sign RSC though, but agree I thought he was overall okay for us

Couldn’t stand Pearce, tactically inept and just stood on the touchline berating players and barking instructions - abysmal manager and 100% gets my vote

On the flip side the one I hated joining us was Brian Horton… wanted Reid to stay and I remember Horton being part of the Luton side that relegated us, but what a turnaround and and gentlemen - one of my favourites behind Royle, Pep and Mancini

There's only been one manager in my many years of watching City whom I absolutely never wanted & couldn't wait to see him sacked ... Alan Ball.

Desperately bad at every club he managed & only given this job because Franny Lee was his friend.

Every other manager has been at least okay & had the odd good spell - even Hughes & Pearce. (Others may disagree).

But all are rubbish compared with Pep, obviously ... although I really liked Mancini; his energy & excitement when we won & for giving us Aguerooooo!! (Again, others may disagree).

There’s been some fucking classics
Bastard Benson, Ball, Pierce frigging hell even Bobby Manc when it all started to unravel . Then Pellers had to overcome how strongly people felt about Bobby, and walk the line prepping for Pep.
Big honourable mentions for Frank Clarke, Beanie, and Brian Who; but in my mind
Hugh Zout on the old BBC 606 wins the day (even though it was worth it for photoshop Hughesy thread on here).
