Late night Cafe/Curry place back in the day?

Not Abduls but in Alex Park/Whalley Range/Moss side in late 70's early '80s. Mrs L thinks it was called Charlies, I disagree as per...
Was always in a state but have a hazy memory of being able to buy a can of beer -hidden from view - after the clubs were shut.
It was Charlies. Every chair was different, ever water jug was different, some were just milk bottles and the lino was a health and safety hazard. The rice was cold and already on the table and there were probably 5 different curries, Suicide was the hottest. For the faint hearted they did a ' mixed grill' .....with cabbage

Mild, Medium, Hot, Suicide, Killer, Charlie's Special, Crematorium, as I remember the escalating heat.

Rays Bangla in Denton mid 80s. Get in after the wine bar shut at 2 am. Best onion bahjis and massive crinkle chips. Chicken madras . Pinch the menus , run into the kitchen then try to take carpet out the door. Happy days

Near St Mary’s Hospital?
Yea Upper Brook Street/Anson Road on the Longsight/Medlock borders, near the junction with Plymouth Grove
Charlie was the Ethiopian owner

Remember it well……….how I miss those days…

Slightly off topic so apologies. My band are performing tonight in Mauldeth Road West M21, soudcheck at 4pm on at 9pm. I really fancy a cafe style curry house, not a place with starched napkins but the sort where all the plates have come from a charity shop. Any recommendations ? Don't mind travelling a bit in a cab.

the continental on ashton new road clayton early 70s, it's all abit of a blur though due to always being well pissed
