Late night Cafe/Curry place back in the day?

Caspian kebab shop in Alty, it was on Peter Street just off Ashley Road. Kobedeh and shish mix on a freshly cooked naan was amazing

Megna Cottage curry house in Bury. Got nicknamed ganja cottage in it's later years but me and a few of us would end up there if we'd been out in Bury.

Megna was always a last resort kind of place if you wanted to sit in late, rather than take home. The Aligarh round the corner was our regular, superior all round, sadly not open as late.

There was a curry house at the top of Bolton St, had an early hrs curry in there a time or two. First on the left after the Hare & Hounds? Can't recall it's name, it's probably not there now.

Rays Bangla in Denton mid 80s. Get in after the wine bar shut at 2 am. Best onion bahjis and massive crinkle chips. Chicken madras . Pinch the menus , run into the kitchen then try to take carpet out the door. Happy days
Loved Rays first went in 79 , was gutted when it closed

I recall a curry house somewhere on the A6 in Levenshulme/Longsight (mid 80's so not saturated by suchlike as later) name was something along the lines of Tarka Dhal, or a play on it. I was going out with a girl from around there then, and her brothers and mates were regulars after the pub. They called it the 'Tacky' ... and boy was it.

So used to runners, they made you pay upfront on ordering. :-) Anybody recall it?

mild, medium, hot, suicide killer, kamakarsi ,charlie special and it’s your own fault

There was a Chinese on Oldham Road, near to the Dutchbirds pub. It was go to place after a session in the Pack Horse (R.I.P.)
Usual lacist banter from a couple of the lads towards servers, 'Ching chong chow and chips, please' kinda thing ... One week, the lady serving had had enough, and says to one guy who wore glasses 'Oi four glass, no more you barred get out'. She clearly meant to call him 'four eyes', which was hilarious to the rest of us, and to this day, his nickname is still Four Glass. :-)
I remember that place. In the late 1960's / early 1970's we'd go there on a Sunday night after closing time in the Pack Horse. Steak & Kidney Pie, Chips & Curry Sauce. For some reason it was only on a Sunday night, even though we boozed in the Pack most nights of the week. In later years when we all had cars we'd fire into town after kicking out time at the Pack and go to the Bangladesh on Mosley Street. Also the Go-to place after a night out on the piss in town. A right dump but they did a great curry. Happy days :-)

Rays Bangla in Denton mid 80s. Get in after the wine bar shut at 2 am. Best onion bahjis and massive crinkle chips. Chicken madras . Pinch the menus , run into the kitchen then try to take carpet out the door. Happy days
Happy days indeed! After a night in the wine bar, sat in there when someone got put through the front window, everyone carried on eating as though nothing had happened, while Ray and his team tried frantically to clear up the mess!
