Surely we can do better than Crouch! How poor was this guy against Andorra? He's the only player I know who's shorter when he jumps for the ball. And his goal was that much of an embarrassment even Capello broke into a laugh.

I do have to say though whether this is pure speculation or not it's definately a Mark Hughes type signing as is Lucas Neill.

With the resources we have available we should be looking to bring in top quality.

Why was his goal embarrassing ?
Surely it was a true poachers goal . If he did that for City against the rags in the 90th minute of an FA cup final , you would be singing his name for years to come .
He looks different , but the guy is a class player and his stats for both club and country prove that .

Why did Liverpool get rid then? And when they made him available only Portsmouth came in.

The goals he's scored for England have generally been against poorer opposition and some teams have barely been Premiership standard (incl. Andorra).

If Crouch was 4 inches shorter, did exactly what he does know, have the exact same score ratio as he does now, I reckon peoples opinions about him would be very different.

Crouch is a very good player who's played at the highest level, he's scored goals against quality opposition. He'd be a player that could take us too that next step, getting linked with Eto'o, Villa, Aguero, Ibrahimovich etc is all well and good but we just cant offer them what they all want, other than money.

This is very true, he has a record of scoring against poor oposition. But he does score and scores regularly in the Prem too. Which of our current strikers can you say that about (Robbie is not really an out and out striker)? You have to remember that while the Prem is considered the best in the world at the moment and this is in some way borne out by the recent Champions League success of our teams, it really only is the top 4 who are of top quality. There is a major gulf between the top four and the fifth placed team which I believe this year was Everton (they got in the Champions League once and went straight out). Most of the Prem is very average. Look at Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Portsmouth, Sunderland, West Ham, and next year Burnley, Birmingham City and Wolves! Not really European storming teams them are they? Even Everton, Tottenham, Fulham, Aston Villa I don't think are so strong (maybe Tottenham have a good squad on paper). We are already better than any of these teams on paper (and hopefully in actuality next season). Crouch will enhance what we have and allow us to push on.

I'd love us to sign Eto'o and Tevez but we have to think about other options.

I despair this sounds more like a rag forum every day
We are MCFC NOT RM and if last season we had crouch instead of some of the shit players we had to put in a blue shirt we would have been in Europe next year and been able to attract the kind of players some people think we have the right to sign we haven't earned it yet but players like Crouch will help

SO QUIT FUKIN MOANIN you haven't seen shit in a City shirt if you think Crouch is

A rag forum, eh? Interesting.

We don't have a right to sign anyone and neither do the rags. But our club has changed and for the better. We can now operate in a completely different market place than before. It doesn't matter that we don't sign all the players we hope to attract but we will sign some, that is just part of the process.

The management at the club have a totally different mindset and ambition now and I honestly think many of our fans have still not shifted up a notch in their way of thinking.

When we talk about watching shit in a City shirt, I've been going to matches since the early/mid seventies. The problem is, when you spend long enough in the pigsty you can't smell the shit anymore.

Many people will have their own views on Peter Crouch but his signing would not send out a statement of ambition and tbh neither would RSC.

Raising standards and striving for better quality players is where we are now and long may it continue.

For me personally the days of rolling around in the pigsty are over.

I reckon he can bags 40-50 points each game for us.

People are just down on him because he doesnt fit in with this slick image associated with the top flight. If he was a foreign player with a exotic name who had the same goal scoring record as crouch everybody would be happy for it. The guy scored plenty of goals at pompey during a terrible season for them. He's part of capello's WC plans n he's nobodies fool. Time to get over the fact he's all legs and arms and realise he's a good player. Can we sign better? I hope so, but stop being down on the guy.
