laughing stock!

If we sign tevez then we have
Petrov or Robbie left
Elano or sweep right
Boj or cruz target man
Tevez or Bellamy pacy forward

That is 8 decent internationals cover in any position and good enough for top 4 as it is.

I agree that Eto'o not coming isn't the end of the world, but let's not over-compensate by making claims which are a bit daft - not least because at least 4 of those players have very patchy injury records and as a result all 8 contributed I guess 50 league goals between them last season. We need another forward - it doesn't need to be Eto'o, especially if he was never keen.

i dont think we were only just saving face like a few said. i felt we were enforcing with iron fists.

when was the last time a club treats a prolific player with such authority? eto'o must have had a lump in his throat.

we . mean . business .

We are far from a laughing stock. We went for one of the best players in the world and told him to do one because he has tried to leave us dangling on the end of a line. It's about time we developed some balls and stand up to players/clubs/agents who want to try and play us for fools.
I would have loved Eto'o here, but at the end of the day it is his loss as he will not get that kind of pay anywhere in the world at his age.

Can I just say that anyone whinging about is being a laughing stock over failed signings does not deserve to be a city fan.

Such a loser attitude that we should not try in case we fail and such thin skinned people do not have the character, heart or passion to be true blues and need to get a grip.

We are trying to do a deal for one of the best players in the world and have played hard ball we should be feckin proud of city!

And if you are too precious and soft to handle a bit of press or other fan ridicule then don't bother to get up in the morning as you are too soft for real life.

To be honest i've not heard anyone calling us a laughing stock. I just ignore any dissenters, some people prefer to see the bad points in everything City do.

Exactly, it shows ambition that we are trying to sign these players.
What I don't get are the posters criticising Cookie for having the ambition and aiming high, and then also have the opinion that we should be knocking everyone over easily next season and winning the league.
The old saying 'they can't do right for doing wrong' comes to mind.

Well said Ealing Blue totally agree City did right to pull the plug ,i want someone at City who want to wear and play for the shirt not some money grabbing mercanary ,I always wanted Tevez more than Etto just hope that goes through ctid

well said,,we need to add something els to the way we think,,he has missed out on a good pay day,but there is something as big if not bigger.THE PROJECT.I can;t see what would give a player a bigger kick than winning a trophy at a club that has great support and has won naff all for 33 years other than their own boyhood club..How going to milan, barca, rags, chelski etc and winning something gives a great sense of achievment is beyond me when they can do the project instead..
