Le Tour De France 2015

No one born in the UK has ever done anything of note in this race for over 30 years, but because of Sky hype it has mainstream interest now. A bit like Golf.

Which can only be a good thing for Britain, its about time we took interest in all sports and events that the world is interested in because as seen we are pretty good at getting involved. Sky have done a great thing for cycling in this country, long may it continue.

Times are fixed in the GC with 70km to go to day, which is good imo, prevents any crashes affecting the standings, which is the reason why they are doing it because the conditions caused crashes in the womens race. 3km till its official Froomes, what a great tour. Hope Cavendish makes it a double victory.

ITV has the rights from 1.30pm GMT.

Yup - and the real trailblazers were Channel 4 back in the late 80's with Le Tour and the criterion City Centre Cycling series - I remember going to see that racing round town after finishing work stood outside the town hall with Robert Millar and Shaun Yates amongst others streaking past I recall.

The recently successful cyclists all credit lottery money for cyclings recent success linked with the velodrome in Manchester and then on to the 2012 Olympic facilities.

What SKY have done is set up and fund a team on the back of all this thus giving Dave Braillesford the platform to enable Wiggo and now Froome to do what they are doing. I know this smacks of SKY jumping on an established bandwagon and putting money into an already prominent and successful vehicle to boost it further - the standard modus of operandi

What is the point of this last stage? You might as well make the final Premier League game of the season 90 minutes worth of keepy - uppies.
