But it wasn't the EDL leader he was refusing to serve! It was his friend, I wonder what. Would happen if I refused to serve one of my customers because they were with Abu Hamza
Yep i know that you know that & probably most on this thread know that, BUT they aint letting it get in way are they.
Some quality stuff by the usual suspects.

We pride ourselves on making everyone welcome and endeavour to provide world-class customer service at all times
Welcome to Selfridges where we welcome racist scum with open arms and free three-course dinners. Grow a fucking spine. I can see why they can't support the employee's actions but rolling out the red carpet for these fuckers. Can't see me boycotting Selfridges would do much good as I've only shopped there twice in my life and ate there once, however, I am now officially boycotting Selfridges until they decide racism is actually a bad thing.

Based on your principles, I don't like people who wear to much make up, have brown hair and drink white wine. If I refuse to serve then in a shop does it make it right?

Did you not understand the point I made?

You again are presenting rhetorical, generalisations.

Ammy, the point is that 2Sheikhs thinks that too much make up is repulsive. Should he serve a person who repulses him whatever the reason. It's not a rhetorical question. There is an answer.
it wasn,t me that said that but anyway, the edl are entitled to their opinions are considered as a legal organisation and are obviously welcome to shop in Selfridges. The shop assistant should not be entitled to serve people he doesn't like.

Glad he didnt lose his job been there eight years with an unblemished record, however hes employed to serve and left selfridges with little choice but offer the olive branch as to put it tommy and his cronie, the lad has every right to express his principles but they pay his wages to serve the customer full stop.
Had he been sacked for refusing to serve them you can only imagine the furore it would of caused up and down the country yet realistically he should of for been for gross misconduct, what next ? political preference when submitting job applications ? being asked who your not prepared to serve when going for a job at mcds ?
he might be a horrible **** yaxley and his pal but still entitled to good customer service just like the rest of us.

*sits back and waits to be torn to shreds*

I hate to come down on the side of the EDL. In my experience they are terminally ignorant, racist thugs and embarrassing drunks.

That said, their members are entitled to shop wherever they like, as long as management permit them to do so and they are not causing trouble or committing any offence. Ultimately, they're paying customers, even if they are fucking arseholes.

The shop worker should have followed procedure and alerted his manager if he had a problem with a customer. Unfortunately, whilst his personal stance against the EDL is commendable, you generally have to leave your politics at the door if you're going to do a customer service job properly.

I was a polling officer at a number of elections in my time as a public servant. I've met the BNP, the EDL, crazy clerics and all manner of other extremists. Ultimately, they were all entitled to vote and I was paid to enable their right to vote however they wanted. I even made some of the candidates tea and coffee when they visited because they were not causing any bother and were abiding by the rules. Surprisingly, the BNP candidates seemed most interested in the polling process and when they applied their own marked cable tie to the ballot box at the end of voting I had to let them, because they were entitled to and they observed exact protocol.
