I think that's a different issue though. It's one thing to refuse to do something that's against your principles, it quite another to refuse to provide a service to someone because you don't like their opinions on something, and even moreso to refuse to serve someone because they happen to be with someone whose opinions you don't like.
It's the "fuck off" bit that should have seen him lose his job. I have no problem with him refusing to serve the EDL leader and his mate, but there's a way of doing it that protects the interests of the business as well as his morals.
But you can't be telling customers to "fuck off", regardless of the reason, and he'd have been sacked for it in any other situation. Selfridges have clearly gone easy on him purely because they can't be arsed dealing with the shitstorm that would follow if they implemented their own guidelines.
