League One Thread - 2021/22 | Sunderland promoted

As a matter of interest, which two promoted clubs do you think will go straight back down?

From a League 1 Perspective my opinion is Wigan will do ok, Rotherham (unless a loot of investment) will come back down.

If Sunderland go up I believe they will kick on and perform the best iof the promoted teams, unfortunately I think Wycombe will be similar to Rotherham. They both play an industrial style of football that works very well in League 1, but you need more than that in the Championship.

Wednesday played really well....I like Darren Moore a lot....I think he's a classy bloke....not close enough to understand how good a manager he is.

Interested @West Yorks Owl what you say about Gary Monk....from the outside looking in..he "appeared" to do well at Swansea....but then also went missing at Middlesboro....was Swansea a flash in the pan??..maybe.
Monk was lucky at Swansea as he took over Laudrup's team who were playing great. He managed to fuck it up in no time though. He started cliques there, players ended up hating each other and publicly scrapping in training, style of play became basic. Gone after a year.

I am always surprised Laudrup has never got another job in U.K. leagues - i thought he did a very good job with Swansea and has since disappeard from the managerial merry-go-round

Sounds familiar, he's fell out with people wherever he's been.

Rumour at the time was the players who were dropped and made to train with the kids were all strong characters in the dressing room, he doesn't like being challenged so removed them from the first team squad.

I know managers get a pay off and may not be able to get a job straight away for contractual reasons, but it's 18 months since he left us. I don't see people knocking down his door to appoint him as their new manager.

It's so predictable. It's not like Wednesday played badly either, but then some of your fans do seem to have this thing about Moore that if he doesn't get you into the Championship with the squad you have, he should be binned off. And replaced by who, exactly? Kneejerk sacking of managers does not help. I should know. As should any Watford fan. And Moore wasn't solely responsible for Wednesday getting relegated, did we forget the lack of wins under Pulis?

Over to you now, Sunderland. Everton and Sunderland have a bit of an affinity - we've got Reid, Pickford, Moyes, Oviedo, Pienaar, Vaughan and Rodwell in common, plus we both have annoying rivals (and the Geordies hate Pickford, a lot).
As far as I can see Everton and Wednesday have a historical similarity in that both clubs upped sticks and formed a new team when they couldn't agree rent with Liverpool/Sheff Utd respectively. I don't know if that's 100 per cent right but was interested in the similarity

For us it's partially true as there was a dispute on gate receipts at Bramall Lane, so we moved to Olive Grove.

The landlords needed to generate income so decided to form their own team in 1889, they called themselves Sheffield United.....not sure what happened to them?

I also remember an old Wednesday fan telling me the barbers poles used to be blue and white in Sheffield, not red and white. Think that's my Wednesday trivia knowledge done !
