League title or Champions League?

European cup may only have 13 games, but to qualify you need to be Top3/4 in your league in the previous season which includes 34-38 games. There is a reason why there is a Top 3/4 race in the league.

Third division Wigan also beat the English league leaders this season.

United and Sevilla previously, finished fifth in their leagues and still qualified by winning the even less good Europa League.

Chelsea and Liverpool won the CL in seasons they finished fifth in their own league.

These are reasons why it’s not as good as winning the domestic league titles, especially the Premier League.
 
The league is so important to the club. Fuck me we are creating our own history. While Liverpool per say are living in there past histories. It kind of does my head in all this Liverpool they have always been the medias darling. Oh how great are Liverpool. For a club with all that history they have yet to win the major thing and when they do we will not hear the end of it. IF they win the premier league.
Playing in a champions league and winning it is 1 thing but I would love to see it going back to just the champions of each league only then you just got the best of each country playing each other. Sadly that aint going to ever happen now as the likes of Man Utd , Real , Liverpool and Chelsea just wont have that happening. Also Liverpool pro media saying there going to win it. I dont even think they will beat Roma. Luck comes and goes. They got bags of luck against us will it continue i am doubtful. Klopp hasnt got them nearer to be contenders compared with Rodgers so that says it all.

Next season I be happy with trying to retain the title maybe FA Cup and going longer in the champions league but with everything it depends on the luck of the draw in the cups. Under Pep were going places. Always hard after a World Cup but hopefully we dont get hit with many injuries.
 
I know our owners really want to win the Champions League but I would always go for the Premier league.
Winning a trophy over a long period of games is always more of an achievement than winning a cup competition.
If the Champions League was only for the Champions of each Country and all the balls were placed in a machine similar to what they use for bingo, so there was no argument about whether the draw was fixed or not then it would be much better.
But absolutely no doubt in my mind that given the choice of the premier league or champions league I would go for premier league every time.
 
Before Liverpool got into the Semi's it would have been league. Now they're there the media will change the story to CL is more achievement.

I say, they haven't fucking won anything yet!

And even if they did are they really Champions of Europe if they CANT win their own league?

That's why we like football. Roma won against Barca fair and square, and they deserve to be there. If only the league winners could play, then we wouldn't have had such a great match. Roma fans were in heaven and it's great for their fans to see their team play against the best in the world. No reason to deny that.
 
The champions league may be more prestigious but it is not a true test of the best team. The best team from that country wins their domestic league. Premier league should always be the number one priority

Chelsea beat Bayern and Barca to win the trophy. Liverpool beat the then great AC Milan and Jose's Chelsea. They may not have been the best team in the league, but they beat other league leaders to win the trophy, so it's well deserved and no fluke. I would rather see it than one team winning everything.
