Learning the Guitar

After reading several customer reviews on this guitar and checking the company out on trust pilot I thought I'd take the plunge. Is this a good choice for a beginner?

All I need now is a good left handed tutor and I'm gonna be Jimi Henchix: )

Willow??? Great for cricket bats.
Just looked at a demo of it, and acoustically to my ears it sounds awful.
For the money you should be able to get something better. Look for a solid spruce top.
Do you need it to be electro?
I'm a luthier, feel free to pm if you want anymore advice, also if anyone wants their guitar fixing, mates rates to fellow blues.
(Sorry for the shameless plug).

I agree with this religious man. :)

Willow ? Nobody uses Willow..
What kind of music do you want to play ?

i have been noodling away, porch style blues generally. for years...recently shifted from my Gibson SG to a rather spiffy Faith acoustic...now started learning a spanish/flamenco style..its like starting all over again...one advantage is that the dischords sound like part of the piece and you can always do a full on fingernail clatter off the body when you get lost...

I can play a few chords and the easy to play songs but generally it's rhythm and strumming patterns that prevent me from being a better guitarist. Any suggestions for how to improve this? Trying to write a sentence about strumming patterns without a double entendre is pretty much impossible!

I love the sound of spanish/flamenco guitars. If I get suitable good at the standard guitar I'll definitely pick one up at some point. Interesting to hear how different it is though.

Let us know when you're as good as young Matteo.
He's a Jazz player but here playing some rock guitar.
Not bad for a 21 year old.

Listening to the basic drum pattern is a big help for a lot of songs. Mute the strings with your fretting hand and just practice strumming along to records. Never let your hand stop. At first 16th note strumming can be hard you still need to move the hand even without strumming the strings. Another way is to beak 16th note strumming for 1 bar into 8th note for 2. It does get easier where you don't need to bother with dududduddu etc

Often there are a couple of guitars anyhow so just pick something that sounds good and fits in with the song.

Dont bother.
Go on x fucking factor .
Trying to sign someone else's song and become famous.
You could be the next rylan or what ever hes called.
It's a lot easier and you dont need any talent

It’s clichè, but practice, practice, practice.

I’ve been playing for a few years & I think I’m ok ish...until I see other players on YouTube.

pentatonic, arpeggios, hammer on, hammer off, divebombing, slides......yeah, fuck that.

just play along to a song you enjoy.
I recently learned how to play ‘I Disagree’ by Poppy (love her), & the tuning was in C.
That would normally be ok, but when you’ve got a Floyd Rose bridge, it was a fucker..& I mean, a complete bastard to tune

I got there in the end though.....don’t give up!

Agreed. Messed about with 'man if constant sorrow` for ages...i like to find me own way...hit you tube and found that if you tune top E to F and capo the third fret then it all falls in,

Feel like I’ve lost a friend. James James (formerly Privettricker) has packed it in. The best, most friendly, guitar channel tutor on the internet. Gutted. Hundreds and hundreds of lessons there for any intermediate level players and a fair few that beginners could master

Hello, just seeing if anyone else started late ( I’m 41 ) or if anyone who plays has any good tips advice on beginners ?

I have never played a note of anything in my life :)
Have you got the intro to Thunderstruck nailed yet? It's a piece of piss....

Three chords and a wing and a prayer!
