Leaving out Elano

Just thought that Hughes' relationships with his Blackburn players was pertinent, considering the posts on here re Elano and suchlike.

Pertinent, but not overly so. Hughes has to go beyond the Blackburn template, the success that he can achieve with that sort of player is limited.

He needs to be able to man manage the annoying little shits that every top club in the world has playing for them.

I keep going back to Gary Cooks comments about his comfort zone. Maybe he might hang around until January and prove us wrong, but I suspec there is more than a touch of truth about those comments and in the long run that will bite us on the arse.

Elano is talented, and has proven that. But he's also a liability when we don't have the ball, and we have better attacking players in our team

like Vass? like Benjani? like Evans? like Adam Clayton?
He disappears away from home. At home I'd consider playing him in the position he played against Everton

When the team are playing well, he plays, but when we're struggling, he's nowhere. You can't have players like that in you team

He took the piss last season, and got away with it. I don't know why people defend him. We need to move on from this. For every one performance in ten, there's nine games of anonymity.

Team spirit is everything in our situation

Elano has been inconsistent, but tell me a time when Vassell and Fernandes have done ANYTHING this season???

SURELY he's worth a place on the bench.........ahead of some kid who Hughes "wants to give a taste of first team football?" Sorry Hughes you've got this one well and truly wrong. We needed 3 points today, we needed people on the bench who could potentially come on and turn things round, today was NOT the time to be introducing a young lad to what its like to be around the squad on match day

Dont get me wrong, I'm all for the youngsters being given a chance but today was not the time to do it

I despair

Totally agree, i've just watched the interview and he looked uncomfortable with that explanation.

When the team were struggling in the latter part of last season it was usually Elano that pulled us out of things with a key assist or goal.

How did he take the piss exactly? And in his 57 appearance for the club he's scored 14 times, 6 of those being away from home. Someone is excaggerating.

Team spirit is important, certainly. So is ability, tempo, tactics, selections.

Moomba,

Your comments continue to amuse me. Never has someone been so selective with what 'news' coming out of the club they choose to believe. You're quite willing to stand behind whatever negative things you hear or read about Hughes, but suddenly become unsure when we talk about players, such as Elano. You can't have it both ways! Either you believe what is printed or you don't. It makes no sense for you to extrapolate truth based on personal opinion.

Or maybe, like so many on here, you have intimate knowledge of the dressing room and the inner workings of Manchester City Football Club?

And I still don't know where you stand on the main issue. You seem to be hedgings your bets to me. You constantly point the finger of blame at Hughes, with good reason I'm sure, but don't want him to go? Have a little bit of courage in your convistions, man. If you want genuinely don't think that we will improve under Hughes then why do you want him to stay?
