Leaving the game early

Made a lot of us laugh in 107 when a kid about 8 started chanting and pointing "is there a fire drill? Is there a fire drill ?"

Some of us joined in.

Well done to all blues who went.......cold and wet and stupid kick off time.

Great result too. The relief from us .....nuff said.

I go to about 5 or 6 games a year as I live outside Manchester and I see this wherever I sit. There's those who turn up 5 mins after KO, shake hands with all their regulars, chat about anything except what's on the pitch for a while, get up to beat the queues at HT, then leave on 80 mins.
Yes, I've always said the same, it's regular,S/C holders that arrive late have a good 20 minute half time and leave early. They'll be lucky to see 70 minutes of the game.

I was thinking about this on Sunday when roughly 80 minutes after the Final Whistle our coach had only travelled around 2-3 miles from Anfield. (even longer at Villa and Tottenham last season)

Too many stadiums have increased their capacity with hardly any thought whatsoever about improving the transport infrastructure. Consequently, it just becomes ingrained in peoples minds that the only way to beat the traffic (or have a realistic chance of catching an early tram) is to leave before the end.

I'm neither criticising nor defending, but I don't even think it's anything to do with the kick off time, as it tends to be the same people every week.
I don't think there is a perfect kick off time. Even on the much touted 3pm Saturday kick offs there are late arrivals and early leavers. I appreciate that night matches add their own difficulties. For me personally the 19.30 is preferable to the 20.00 due to transport issues.
As you say, there are huge numbers or attendees at these matches now, some are always going to leave early just to get ahead start on everyone else. I feel for the players and for the club, it's not really a good look.

It wouldn’t matter if there was a travelator direct to Picadilly outside every exit.

It’s been allowed to fester over a number of years and now there is nothing the club can do to change it as it’s an ingrained habit. 25k leave before the final whistle and it gets a little worse every game.

My toes curl after a great performance where the players go to thank supporters and there is hardly anybody left in the stadium.

There are loads on here that think it doesn’t matter - but I do wonder what the players were thinking last night seeing all the empty seats in the south stand throughout the game and then the usual exodus with 10 mins to go.

If we can’t applaud the team off during the best era in our history then a dread to think what happens when we eventually turn shit.

I mean it's fuckall to do with how good or shit the team is. People who have work in the morning will always leave night matches early while it's such a nightmare to get away from the ground quickly. I understand it. Now people leaving Saturday matches early to have an extra pint yeah that's crazy to me.

After the champions league final in 2021 not one player came over to the fans and the manager stayed on the half way line feeling sorry for himself. Maybe still social distancing. They only come over when it suits them so the fans owe them nothing.

100% agree getting away from our stadium is a nightmare especially with the parking restrictions around now there's nowhere to park trains are so unreliable.

The benefit after a night game especially this time of year is there's no shoppers going home traffic.

The motorways to Fleetwood-by-the-Sea were wet but lovely and quiet.
I know you're likely not bothered hearing this mate, but genuinely, that's a cracking effort on a damp, shitty midweek night.
