Lee Mason

Pretty much the worst appointment we could have been given for that game.

It's a ridiculous anomaly of the way the county FA's are organised. Referees can't officiate at clubs who belong to the same FA county association as they do. Yet Bolton, where Mason lives, comes under the jurisdiction of the Lancashire FA whereas we come under the jurisdiction of the Manchester FA. Same sort of thing for Anthony Taylor, who everyone knows is another rag. Yet despite living in Wythenshawe, he conveniently belongs to the Cheshire FA.

However the Merseyside FA covers the whole of Greater Merseyside so Chris Foy, who lives in St Helens, can't referee Liverpool or Everton. I believe that Mike Dean, who lives on The Wirral which comes under the Cheshire FA, could do those teams but has voluntarily ruled himself out of their games.

It's rotten to the core.

Ref for Stoke away.

Shall we just give them the points?

I think Mancini got to this point with Stoke. Gifting the points might well save on injuries. I fancy Mason has already decided on a red for one of our back four. He might just wait till he gets the team sheet before deciding who it's gonna be!! This freak should be nowhere near a football ground let alone walking out onto the pitch armed with a whistle and two cards!

Three points at the Britannia with Mason getting the gig? The fuckin' world is standing on its head!!

Come to think of it, has anyone seen Paul Hayward and Lee Mason in the same changing room?

At the risk of inevitable media sneering, I genuinely don't know why City don't make a very public issue of this, if only to pile some scrutiny on to the bastards. Mason and Taylor's allegiances are well known and it is an ongoing disgrace that they're allowed to take charge of City (and even United) games. As several others have said, we will get nothing from the game. Stoke players will be able to foul ours with near impunity, and whilst there will likely be nothing overt (the fuckers aren't stupid enough to do that), any big 50:50 calls will not go our way. I'm thinking Sinclair's dive over Joe Hart down at Swansea that Mason called as a penalty, or the foul by Jelavic on Kompany at Hull that he ignored in order to send Vinny off, etc etc
