Lee Mason

I defended Clattenburg pre-Chelsea when he was taking pelters, but this bloke is a whole new ball game and a complete no-no

We thought the same about Clattenberg before Chelsea, and he was superb. Resisted all of Chelsea's squealing

Difference is though, that Mason's an established 'long outed' rag

As well as a full weight ****.

So many times he's fucked us over I've lost count.

He had a long run without reffing us, during which time he was down to ref us a couple of times but was pulled at the last minute. He has reffed us 3 times in the last 2 seasons, was snidely accused of bias in our favour by Rodgers at home to Liverpool, sent Vinny off at Hull and missed a stonewall penalty on Yaya at home to Stoke.

He is a pretty poor ref with questionable allegiances but we haven't done too badly recently. Probably means we're in for a shocker at Stoke.

The 'bias' against Liverpool was perpetrated by the linesman IIRC

IIRC- If I recall correctly.

The "bias" in the Liverpool game was supposed to be the linesman and the fact that Mason was from the Lancashire FA or something. Apparently he didn't give Skrtel or Suarez penalties (despite neither being penalties). For some reason he didn't see Skrtel's embracing of his fellow professionals when defending corners but no ref has ever seen that.

Let us also not forget that during a season which has been widely regarded as an all time low in terms of refereeing performance by ex referees and pundits alike, this clown has made THE worst decision of the lot. Not only that, he made it in Stoke's favour which doesn't bode well.

How he only booked Walters for hauling back Baines when clean through is beyond comprehension. The decision was so was so bad that Mason's integrity must be questioned. He then awarded a softish penalty to allow Stoke to complete the job, naturally.

A few dubious calls either way, but nowhere near as bad as he has been when reffing us in the past. As with Clattenburg a few weeks ago, I'm all for slating them when they're bad but they deserve credit when they're OK. Still hate him, mind you.

I don't think he had a great game. He just didn't shit on us as much as usual. FWIW I think Silva dived for the penalty, but I am not complaining.

It's probably a sad indictment when I'm relieved that a ref is just a bit incompetent rather than out and out biased.

He certainly exaggerated the contact, but he was pulled back and it was a penalty.

Mason could easily have put us in the shit with the milner handball decision. I was very surprised he didn't. Not saying it was a Penalty as I think it hit his thigh first but a twat like Mason could easily have given it.
He gets a pass from me for tonight's performance.

I'll give him a pass as well but wasn't impressed with his decision to book Kun for the handball - it looked unintentional to me.
