I know this has been bought up before but I was watching the "Magic of the FA Cup" last night for hundreth time and was wondering what it must have been like to be at Elland Road that day. The atmosphere looked incredible and it seemed that City fans nearly had half the ground ? Anyone went on that day ? and any memories trying to get back to the train station ?

On a side note, I loved that Umbro kit with the diamonds down the side. I remember getting that for xmas that year complete with Tueart "like" tassles.

My first City shirt, that one. Still have it, as a matter of fact.

Was this the game where Trevor Cherry scored a late winner for Leeds?

was it the game where we won 2-1, if so i was there. city fans had the lowfields rd all way down the side of the ground up to nearly the kop end. i have never been to a game like this, city 2-0 leeds fans on the pitch, big joe grabbing a leeds fan and putting him in the net, ref saying that he would not call off the game and would play last few mins behind closed doors. outside it was like a bloody war zone with fighting all over the place, i was parked near the city buses, so was alright with plenty of city fans going that way, leeds fans trying to ambush us near the greyhound stadium other side of the rd, city fans chasing them in to the stadium and only city fans coming out, got on to the m62 and a car full of leeds fans tried to ram us off the rd, but i steered into them and they went hell for leather away from us, a bloody crazy day out that 1

I was there and we had a huge following, i remember the pitch invasion and one city fan jumping over the fence and running into the Leeds fans on the pitch. Madness outside the air was thick with bricks and bottles. Great result but a dodgy return to the coaches with fighting breaking out everywhere.

Ws that when Joe Jordan stamped on Dave Watson ??.i was there sat opposite the main stand .Awesome day ,pitch invasion Police horses, fighting on the hard shoulder !!

Everyone around me was shouting at him to get off as we were in control.

I went to the train and getting back to the station even with the escort of the cops was frightening. Ended up in a pen at the side of the station with a couple of mounted police between us and the Leeds fans, missiles flying everywhere.

not just the leeds scum that we had to fight as west yorkshires finest were up for it as well

got booted down that steep concrete stairwell for starters at the end of the game before having to fight our way back to the car

City fans were running riot all over the place

It was always tasty with them both home and away

Remember seeing fighting on the motorway after the game, huge away following and Leeds fans trying to get the game abandoned.

Went on the coach that day, and was one of the first coaches to arrive. Was met by about 200 Leeds outside the greyhound stadium, and remember the coppers all stood around while they set about us!

Worse bit about it was this bloke who had his young lad with him, got his leg broke during the trouble.

There must have been at least 15,000 blues there, and it was a tremendous feeling showing such force, and the team doing the business on the pitch!
