The Scousers still putting out full strength team, have they not got a mid-week fixture?

They've dropped out of the top four, don't look like they're progressing in Europe, and desperately need to qualify for the top four or they are really going to struggle. This is a huge game for them today and they would kill to be in a similar position to us.

Poor across the board today, starting with the team selection and finishing with the game management - to lose like that was absolutely criminal and it’s worrying that it’s still happening when the group of players has been together for so long.

I suspect United will drop points tomorrow but if we’re eight points ahead with six games to play when we get back to the league, the pressure will be on and our record in the past couple of seasons doesn’t look good in must-win games.

The biggest take away from today is that we have a good first 11 but beyond that the quality isn’t great, and when you basically field all those second string players together we get found out. We’ll only know whether it was worth it after the Dortmund game.

Sterling and Bernado in particular were very disappointing today - I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them were to leave in the summer - and we didn’t have anyone to dictate the pace and get the team playing.

I generally believe they think we hate City though just because we are upset with the result. Like you say though bring on the next game and hopefully resting the players will workout for us against Dortmund.

Whats been highlighted the most for me here is... alot of the fans on here slag off the champions league and say fuck it didn't want it anyway, but the way they are all defending the team being rested definitely tells me different haha.

if you don’t want to completely waste your weekend do reflect that we need a max 11 points from 18 possible with Villa A, Palace A, Chelsea H, Newcastle A, Brighton A and Everton H. We do play better away and personally I cant see less than 4 wins amongst these fixtures.

Swop our position for Utd‘s for a moment. They have Spuds A, Burnley H, Leeds A, Pool H, Villa A, Leicester H, Fulham H and Wolves A.

And undoubtably they will have the semis of the Intertoto to complete.

Utd will drop points. They only need to draw one game to leave us needing three wins with our superior goal difference.

By that premise, we shouldn't care at all about winning any matches, why even bother to watch, in fact?

It's a results business, as City fans, we should always want to win and certainly care about losing, regardless of the competition.

I've got a bet on us to win one trophy this season, Cups can go in the blink of an eye and, as things stand, we still need to keep the other eye on finishing the job in the league.

As today has shown, nothing can be taken for granted.

I'd agree with that back four but Cancelo actually was our top ranked player today on whoscored.com so perhaps he did more good things in the game than people think.

Prolific for Spain, 6 in 10 games after stepping up from under 21s, including a hat trick against Germany. He’ll be just fine

With respect, Bill makes it quite clear every week that he would play the strongest line up and make no changes even if it meant the same 11 for the whole season.
That kind of thinking is so outdated I’m shocked anybody still comes out with it.

Warning shot today to Pep - he has to be careful, I expect the Rags to win tomorrow and the gap to be 8 points when they win their game in hand.
Villa & Palace tricky games but good thing is they don't have anything to play for, however the 4 after that against Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton & Everton are the games when the opposition will have things to play for.
History tells us that an 8 point lead with 6 games to go can go horribly wrong.

Leeds had fuck all to play for today,this team or squad has a soft underbelly we need to be very careful or the pressure will build again ..
