Leeds Thread - 2021/22

He is/was a perfect example of a pub team manager. Only knew one way to play and looked perplexed every time it failed... ie, more often than not.
Overrated and lucky to have lasted as long as he did at Leeds. I'll be absolutely amazed if he gets another job in English football.

Yeah, he reminds me of the Manager of my local pub Sunday League team back in the late 60's/early 70's. His HT team talks were always confined to "Keep it going, lads" (if winning), or "We can win this " (if losing). Every week, no different. I recall the team going off at HT once after a first half mauling - 4 or 5 nil - and "We can win this" was yet again rolled out. Cue raucous laughter and shouts of "You've got to be f--king joking ! " Lol. He was a rag, BTW.

I was told a very similar story about Tommy Docherty by one of the coaches when he was manager of (as I recall) Altrincham. They wouldn't see him at the club all week but he used to turn up just before kick off with a rousing speech. He'd give the keep going/we can do it chat at half time, half pissed. His full time talk would be limited to a drunken slur of 'see you next week lads' and he'd be off back to the boardroom.
He was getting about two grand a week for that.

What the fuck are Leeds doing getting an unproven manager in at this stage of the season. Hopefully they will be following Eltons rent boys and Burnley into the championship
