Leeds United (A) Post Match Thread

I think Sane would of helped strecth teams more as he ran in behind but your right, we are missing Silva more than anything

comfortable collecting the ball and hold it all day at the edge of the box until something opened up

There is no space for any of our players to run in behind, that's the issue.

Sane would literally have to attempt a quick one-two spin to get in and, even then, have marginal space to work in.

Mahrez, Sterling, Torres, they can all run at players with ease but they are all forced inside where teams have already worked all week on defending the ball in front of the screen.

Walker seems to be the only one who can run from much deeper to utilise his pace, usually when he seemingly decides 'fuck it'.

West Ham have beaten The Foxes 3 nil at home... What's that all about??
We are well adrift of Everton.....
United and pool play crap and get over the line...
Look at us...if we don't get it together sharpish..we 8 points adrift..that is bad..
I think Arteta is a big miss for us because Pep always had somebody to bounce off and he looks abit vacant sometimes..
Worrying times....
Hope you were treated OK inside...

It's not. He's just publicly airing what we can all pretty much see, yet Pep either doesn't, or won't change to counter it.

For Leicester, we can pretty much read every defeat we have had for the last two years.

We always struggle against Southampton. Liverpool, Wigan, Norwich, Spurs, Chelsea, they have all decided to let us play the game in their own half.

It is a deliberate ploy to essentially say they are willing to accept slow pressure because of what it eventually affords them in return.

It's why we are the greatest flat track bullies in recent history and teams such as West Ham, Burnley and Watford get mullered out of sight, they don't have the technical quality to beat our own press or retain possession long enough.

I would rather see us deliberately run down the clock in our own half, relying more on our technical retention of the ball to force teams to actually come and press us again, than feel the onus is always on us to go forward and try and pick the lock.
Unfortunately losing Sane and the ageing Kun we don't have the devastating counter attacking pace we once had.

Sane has the ability to unlock tight defences on his own. None of the others do as much as he does, certainly not mahrez. He's the only one I can remember had can dijk on the floor a few times. Added to that was his pace. Pep blundered by bringing in mahrez and allowing sane to go.

Sane is out injured again. There's no guarantee he will have a career which isn't hindered by problems stemming from the community shield game.
Shame for the lad but we've got to move on and stop talking about a player who didn't want to be here.

When the situation allowed for it, yes.

However, we don't play counter attacking football and never have looked to play it under Pep, barring the initial naivety teams some showed against us.

I've always argued we are even more devastating on the counter than Liverpool, but they are but brief moments in time (Bournemouth and Stoke home wins spring to mind) rather than any direct gameplan set up to orchestrate the counter.

We are a front foot team and always have been under Pep.

Unfortunately for him and us, it now has us on the back foot.

I think he wanted to initially but had his head turned when pep kept benching him for mahrez

Look at the positives - we were lucky to get a point from a game where we deserved none.

Teams simply were terrified of attacking us, because our press was so aggressive and the ball quickly got back and another attack launched with pace , power and incredible movement.

All gone last season and no signs of anything different so far this season.
