Leeds United (A) Post Match Thread

The three games we have played were all against difficult opponents and yes we dropped points but five points over the season can be made up.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the Liverpool derby and our game against Arsenal which will be very difficult also but a loss for Liverpool and a win for us will change the gap, so no need to get too down.
Hopefully we can get some others in and out yet.

Five points can be made up how? Not wanting to be overly negative but come on we’ve been gash and can’t close out those niggly games. I fear more points dropped over the season as we’re too predictable

We need to start playing for 90 mins instead of charging about the 30 mins and playing well but not killing the game off... In these early stages and with the injuries we have, we need to adjust so we can last the distance ... Leeds out passed us and had more possession which surprised me a lot ... No need to panic but we do need to settle into a pattern that we can sustain for the full 90 mins... Once we are fit and up to strength we can then start reverting to our wonderful type and take teams apart as only we can....!

They look a very good outfit. They play Liverpool in a couple of weeks, that will be interesting
with short arms in goal it'll be shoot on sight for liverpool. its interesting heard everton looking at rags Romero ? that'll help
side note why cant city keep ball down when shooting wrong type of ball or just poor technic

Ran out of steam and we don’t have any power in midfield if KDB isn’t on the field.
We NEED to put the money on the table needed to prise AOUAR away from Lyon!

KDB is literally dead on his feet at 80 mins already, because he is the only power midfielder we have. He needs a break, both on and off the field!
And he won't be getting any break from the Belgium national team as well, three games in this international break. He'll be absolutely fucked come Christmas if not before.

We are playing catch up because we have started our season behind other teams. Other teams are ahead of us regarding match fitness and it shows , now we have a bloody break which we could have done without and have lost time again in Pep working with the squad.
Any team would struggle without a striker ( should have bought one in is another story )
With both our strikers fit City can play in two different ways depending on which striker is player. Without any striker Pep trys to player the Jesus 'way' 3 fast hard working forwards but this doesn't seem to work without Jesus.
The drop of after 20 minutes is down to not being match fit and no pre season if City are still dropping of after 10 or so games than something is very wrong.
Yesterday's match was a match City will not have been use to , an end to end match which not being match fit suited Leeds.
City normal control the tempo ( or lack of ! ).
Once we have a full squad we should start to control games better, but I still feel this season is going to be a farce, covid19 will play a part which doesnt seem right. As fans we dont know what the plans are for any outbreak, we dont know if games are postponed or not if a large number of players in the squad have it. Going by the league cup if you cant play the team is kicked out so I guess 3 points to the team that can play ! Who knows not us fans.
The one thing City need to do is when on top like the last few games is put the chances away, Sergio normally takes around 5 games to get going so it's not going to be a quick fix.
Yesterday we started will and finished well, perhaps Pep needs to put subs on earlier even in the first half to stop the other team getting a foot hold.
On the plus side Bernie looking good now, eddy about from the brain fart was motm.
I dont buy into this doom and gloom been here to long for that !

CTID :)
The analysis is a bit mote rational than last night and that is to be welcomed. The glass half full/half empty camps are spreading their contrasting visions of the weeks ahead and both are presenting reasonable arguments of doom and gloom or the dawn of another golden age.
The only real solid fact is that we have got off to a bad start for the second season running. Now the pros and cons are being fiercely contested and I am not certain as yet as to whether this is a blip or a nose dive.
We won't thankfully have long to wait as the period after the break will almost certainly tell us where we stand domestically and in Europe. It all kicks off with a visit from Mr.Arteta and a certain Mr.Klopp won't be far behind. Interesting times ahead.

What a fucking embarassment this thread is.

That was a cracking game against a a great team that couldve gone either way. Plenty of teams will struggle against Leeds this season, but after 3 games it seems our season is over?
Grow some balls and get a grip.
It’s been a pretty grim read, mate.
There are problems that need fixing and it’s clearly evident we aren’t the team of 2/3 years ago but if some of the reactions I’ve seen on here over the last 12 hours are how people genuinely feel then they need to step back from the game for a little bit as being so fucking angry over a hard fought draw against tough opposition isn’t healthy.

I'm going to watch the 3rd part of the Harold Shipman documentary. Less depressing than this thread.

Leeds had an xG (expected goals) of 2.71 while City only 1.45. You can see from the shot map that Leeds' created higher quality chances. We actually deserved to lose based on that.

Its interesting the different views even in my house, my son 22 thinks it's all gloom and doom we should be beating Leeds, the clubs in a mess he dislikes marhez, walker, mendy, gundogan sure there are more lol. He doesnt agree about City not having a pre season, or not being match fit, doesnt agree that other teams have had a better pre season.
Where as I dont like it when our players are slagged of or we are now a shit team etc ( perhaps I remember the 3rd division than we were shit ! Lol )
We are having a tough time yes , but a tough time last season we finished second !.
I wouldnt argue with my son as it's only football but I just say " if you think this is shit good job when you were born you didnt understand how shit we were."
I know times have moved on and now some fans expect more, perhaps with age I have become more laid back, or not so interested because of VAR and in my eyes the game is more bent than ever. As a fan of 60 years City have given me my greatest ever feeling of pure joy Aguerooooooooo nothing will ever beat that , even if City were to win the champs league in the same way.
I guess perhaps joung City fans have experienced that Aguerooooooooo moment and expect it more often, for me once was enough.
Dont get me wrong I was disappointed City didnt win , confused about the handball rule again, thought it was a straight red on Bernie. I still swear at the tv but once the fame is over I move on. Ok might moan abit in here but that's nothing like i was in my younger days lol

I have to admit Leeds surprised me yesterday. I watched them a lot last season on the TV and although they played great football and dominated games, their finishing was often poor and they used to let a lot of late goals in. I thought their style would be tailor made for us but it appears we were for them. It must have been a great game for a neutral. Once again the officials and var did us no favours, Sterling's looked a definite penalty and until the rule was changed.....again....we would have got the handball, or being us we probably wouldn't. It should have been a red for the Bernardo challenge too. Agent var's job done, now five points behind the dippers instead of three and given their consistency it's probably job done even this early in the season.

When even the commentators are confused by the VAR decisions against City you know something is wrong.

I dont believe in corruption on the scale some people do but this is getting to be annoying

City were annoying, no doubts about that though
Try reading a book called Red Card by Ken Bensinger and you may change your mind. It’s always been corrupt and always will be sadly it’s the fans that are taken for mugs

Good post a bit of sane perspective

I share the sentiment and your comments but would disagree about being a ‘great’ team. A very very good manager yes, who gets the most out of what he has. His game management, tactics and substitutions were spot on.

There is no disputing it was a cracking game to watch and was a refreshing change these days to see an open game of football. From a City point of view though it’s quite alarming the week before a team do the old sit back and hit us on the counter routine and bag 5 against us. Then a week later a team like Leeds who for all the smoke being blown up their arse won’t finish top 6,go toe to toe with us for football and we still can’t win. In fact they created the better chances. Worrying
