Leeds United (H) - Post-Match Thread

Empires rise and fall, I think we should all be grateful that we have seen City in the time of Caesar.
Didn't end well, that.
Pep's more like Trajan - more successful, better ideas, more admired, better loved. And like Pep he came from Spain.

we really do make the game look easy and the ball retention in training must be painful for the players
the training and setup and work load and all hard work pays off on match days for us to play like tonight.

forget your superstars like ronaldo and messi ? i don't think they could train like the way city players do ?
pep does not carry any players in his team and the work rate of all the players is 100%. the 10 outfield work so hard for each other and cover places and slot in when needed

its a 9/10 tonight
Agree but what do they need to do to get a 10/10. You're a hard taskmaster

City brought the sauce last night. Wonderful display of football from the lads. De Bruyne looked sharp and a lot quicker and that goal was an outrage. Loved the way we moved the ball around so quickly and going back to Ederson even when we were half way up the park. All to move those Leeds players about as they just chase you about like a dog in a park running after your football.

so many positives to take out of the game and long may this form continue.

Pep regularly states in his post match press conferences that players could do better, have a lot to learn, etc., etc.
But I bet he is IMMENSELY PROUD of his squad and the football that they play thus putting his philosophy into practice and on display for the viewing world-wide audiences to admire. (Rags and scousers excepted of course)

The scary thing is that it doesn't matter which players we use. The system and the way we play are so deeply rooted in the players. It's easy to forget that when wanting new faces in the transfer windows. One could argue that the one that has really struggled is Grealish, but it's quite common that players have a "bad" first season under Pep. Rodri is a great example as he has had a steep learning curve and now been our best player this season (together with Bernardo). Probably the real drop in quality that can be seen is when Fernandinho comes on instead of Rodri, and that is only due to age. Who would have thought that 1-2 years ago?!

Walker and Cancelo also belong to our top-performers this season, but they were not missed either. It's so obvious that we don't have a starting eleven, but a squad, and that is wonderful.

Leeds were not good, but at least they try to play their way and quite impressive that they didn't lose it and started playing dirty. Not many teams try to have a go at us any longer for obvious reasons which makes it refreshing to see teams like this once in a while.

Looking good now, isn't it? Fantastic that we have ticked off away games against Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester, United, Spurs as well. That we are not in the Carabao and that most players are fit should make us handle the Xmas schedule pretty well.

They do says it’s better to have loved and lost and whilst not Pep, our last two managers also gave us trophies and some absolutely fantastic football along the way.
Agree.
It's the club management structure from the owner down that is important. Managers will come and go but if the club is run efficiently with the focus on football, we should always be there or thereabouts.
