I think Haaland might be rested here. With the record done and Alvarez unlikely to start in Madrid i think this is the game.

it never works when we have to bring the big boys on to try and rescue things mate? If we need them anyway then is it not better to start strong and then hopefully be able to make changes as the game goes on? It could be THE pivotal weekend in the title race imo so we must win

I see mate but what happens if we are *not* winning with the big boys on the pitch? Play them for 90 minutes before travelling to Madrid for one of the most important games of the season?

Something has to give. Risks will be taken. If we play at full strength vs Leeds, then we run the risk to be tired in the 2nd half in Madrid. It's pointless to finish 5 pts clear of Arsenal and get beaten by Madrid. We can use the wriggle room we have to negotiate the games so that we are in top top condition for Real.

Having heard Big Sam remind us he’s on a footballing level with Pep, I’m shitting myself for this game.

it will be a miracle if fat sam can get there defence to stop leaking goals in 3 days training they have only played one way for a number of years and he wants to change that in 3 days.
the only thing stopping us winning is team selection, like most i would prefer the same as the liecester game go 3 up take off the big guns at half time.

Personally I'd be resting Haaland for this game and put Alvarez in. We cannot risk Haaland taking a kicking from a BFS team and possibly getting injured at this point in the season, otherwise the treble is done imo. He's the one irreplaceable in the team.

Haaland may be used from the start. Given it's Big Sam, we are likely to have 80% possession. Haaland will walk around their box and make runs here and there. Pep may instruct him to not press. Alvarez, Foden and Mahrez will do the pressing.

However, resting players is not only about saving energy but also about clearing the mind. That's why, as Pep commented, he rested Ederson vs W Ham. The mental aspect is overlooked at times.

3 points a must physiologically, if the arse are going to Newcastle 4 behind knowing they have to win it's a different game to going there 1 behind knowing we have blown a big chance. Absolute must win game.
