Leeds Utd v City - 1976/77 FA Cup

I went to that. Some of the Leeds fans were pretty nasty in those days. One of the few occasions I've felt genuinely scared walking to and from the ground.

Thats a great find OP. Thanks for sharing. My first away game was Leeds. Got punched in the face. Wasn't wearing colours, wasn't sure how they knew at the time but probably accents.

I'd still have them back. Sooner them than a Wigan.

Is it just me or does the average age of the travelling City fans appear to be around 16-21?

A bit different to nowadays

The ones on the train tended to be younger, the older ones were more likely to drive. And the younger ones were more likely to be caught on camera in the hurly burly. So not 16-21 on average but still much younger than nowadays. I missed that game but at the time I was working in the same office as Paul Reaney's mum. She didnt half give me stick on the Monday.

Walking back into Leeds after the cup tie the follwing year was easily the most frightened I've been at football match.

I was 22 at the time of that Cup tie, now I'm 62 but still go to a decent number of aways, I imagine the same applies to a good number of our current away following. Couldn't see myself on the bit filmed on the special, probably just as well. ;-)

Dec 1st 1975 ?
Yes, it was March 1st 1975, my first visit to Elland Rd and it started as it was to go on, violently! I blame Willie Donachie's fluky equaliser.

Regarding the special (Train) to Leeds.....most mobs I knew hired transit vans and filled them with loons.

Then Donald started doing coaches from under Store street taking lads off the trains.

Away days.........nothing like now.
