Ake has looked good there but he's a centre back filling in a role for the team, that shouldn't be a long term solution.
Cancelo looks great going forward from there but time and time again fails to defend crosses coming in from the left wing. I could be wrong but I don't feel like he has the same difficulty when playing down the right. Against the best teams Cancelo and Zinny have been found out defensively IMO. Ake hasn't played enough really to say for sure how comfortable he truly is there either, if we are being sensible.
I guess the point is. Is 'good enough' the standards we keep now? That doesn't seem to be acceptable anywhere else on the pitch.
It all depends on if there is a worthwhile upgrade on what we already have available(someone who can bring what Cancelo can bring from the right). If not, then there's not much point bringing anyone in. If there is, then we will finally get to see what two natural side backs on either wing looks like, for Pep's City.
I'll be honest, I don't know half the names on that list, so I don't know what the answer to the above is. But asking the right questions is half of the puzzle.
I'm definitely not of the opinion that a top quality natural LB wouldn't improve us though.
