Different set of responsibilities at Wolves. He wouldn't spend 1/4 of the time in his end at City that he has to at Wolves. Very good going forward. And can’t get a game at Wolves. Sounds just what we need.
His game is mostly flaws. I don't get the allure. He is a slightly more athletic KolarovHe’s said numerous time he’s happy there, also said he’d like to stay there for the rest of his career. Rejected multiple big clubs, including PSG last year, when he extended his contract. Looks like he’s in no rush to move
Since you’re watching them regularly, what’s your thoughts on him? I lived in Milan between January and June and watched him plenty of times, and have been following them closely since. IMO he has something that none of our current full backs have, but there are definitely some flaws to his game. Lots of people seem to describe him as an immaculate LB, which isn’t quite the case. He can be a bit shaky in defence and I suspect his passing and overall posession play isn’t quite at Peps required level, but his attacking output makes up for it
He can adapt to either. You just have to be very good at the basics. Possession, decision making and cohesion. Then the rest is adapted to your personal strengths.Wonder what type of full back Pep would rather wwnt, would it be an overlapping one like Mendy or a player more comfortable to play inverted like Delph and Zinchenko had done.
That's a very big 'if', something most posters on this thread have conveniently ignored when excitedly debating a potential replacement. Much of this speculation appears to be based on a recent post claiming that Cancelo had thrown a wobbly in the tunnel and demanded his agent force a move. It's worth noting (unless I'm mistaken) that the media - normally only too willing to exploit any reports of player unrest - hasn't run with the story. Instead, we've seen pieces speculating that his recent lack of playing time is simply indicative of a club willing to sell. While time may prove me wrong, my personal view is that he's likely to remain part of Pep's plans for some time to come. We're all guilty at times of being spoiled by success and failing to appreciate what we have. Let's not forget, until recently, Cancelo was being feted as one of the best full backs in the Premiership, if not the world.I think if Cancelo goes we replace him with a equal calibre full back. Maybe we then end up keeping Gomez around as said left back will play most of the games.
Who that is? No idea.
Absolutely.Let's not forget, until recently, Cancelo was being feted as one of the best full backs in the Premiership, if not the world.
Milan took a chance on Theo, he was almost written off at Real and he clearly feels like he owes them. Add to it that he's dating an Italian woman, you can see why he's not in a rush. But ultimately he can get things offered to him at City that he could never at Milan. He’s said numerous time he’s happy there, also said he’d like to stay there for the rest of his career. Yeah agree with all that. Quite similar to Mendy, but with the pace of Walker. Pretty certain he couldn`t play inverted, passing and first touch isn`t quite at the level required. Would only work as a touchline winger, and I`m not sure if that`s what Pep wants. Would suit Grealish perfectly though, to have an overlapping full-back that allows him to drift more insideMilan took a chance on Theo, he was almost written off at Milan and he clearly feels like he owes them. Yeah i kind of agree with you tbh, he's actually not the perfect type of left back for us in that tactically he's not very astute and he can be clumsy in his passing. Going forwards he is brilliant, he scores goals and gets assists, going backwards hes OK but i think he would struggle with playing inverted. If i was to compare him, i'd say he's pretty much like Mendy but better defensively and can actually run with the ball and take people on. I like him a lot at Milan, whether he would suit City is another thing and whether Pep thinks he could either change how we play or change him is another thing. Ultimately, i don't think he'll be on our radar tbh.
