We looked a better side when Sergio went off. It was good he got 60 mins as he could be important for us in the run in from the bench, but on the evidence of yesterday it is time he moved on. I know its not what we want to hear, I don't want to hear it myself. Jesus had a very good game as well, maybe the news that Sergio is to move on has given him a boost and now he knows he can stake a claim to be the man, if indeed we play a 9 at all. Jesus didn't operate as a 9 but his work rate and link up play were exemplary.
I thought we played pretty well without ever being very good, although after an international break you take that. Ferna was magnificent, so was Kev, that pass was just fucking unreal. We also managed to "rest" some key players ahead of Dortmund if indeed "rest" is the word rather than "rotate" according to the opposition and to implement our tactical plan. Pep certainly learnt from the game early in the season and playing both Ferna and Rodri halted their counter, stopped them having any real substantial possession and any threat was sporadic. I have rarely seen Vardy so quiet in a game.
I noticed the commentators had to get a dig in about Stones being "dropped" because of his error for England, what fucking nonsense of course, we had Aymeric at home who hadn't played any football and was the obvious starter for me
Another hurdle taken and we are almost there. Thing is we deserve to be there, we are streets ahead of any other team at the moment and barring a bout of Cityitis we could well win the lot.
MOM ----THAT PASS FROM KEV. It was a moment of real beauty, artistry beyond nearly every footballer I have ever seen. As Redknapp said “De Bruyne is so far ahead of everyone else i bet he has already given out his Easter eggs”
