The Mapei research centre link something I mentioned on here a few months ago. The link only became public knowledge because of an interview in an Italian newspaper. There are rumours that Ranieri also employed the services of Mapei when he was at Chelsea.
I believe they own Sassoulo who, like Leicester, have been performing well above expectations. Mapei have also worked with Juve as did Monaco. The latter when Ranieri was manager.
Here's an example of Mapei's history re doping:

Lots of cyclists, who cheated, moved to the Tuscany area or would often travel over from France to get a top-up. It was the doping capital of Europe, as touched upon in David Millar's book, Racing Through the Dark. Rumours (NB mentioned in Millar's book) are that a certain research centre were involved.
Rob Brinded, a 'high performance specialist' worked in strength and conditioning at Chelsea from 2001-07. He suggested at one time that Chelsea were doping during those 6 years. Brinded's lawyer later claimed there was a 'misunderstanding'. Worth noting that Ranieri was at Chelsea at around that time.
It stinks but at least Chelsea stopped United winning the league and Leicester prevented Arsenal being champions.
Thanks for that, I haven't actually read Racing through the dark, but I'm definitely going to asap.
The Chelsea link isn't a rumour. Squinzi has again confirmed that they worked with Chelsea, I'll try and find a link for you. If you follow cycling then you may know the name Aldo Sassi, now deceased head of the centre. He has a brother who is in football, Roberto Sassi, who was at Chelsea at the time. The relationship with the centre was conducted through him, just as Leicester's is conducted through Azzalin.
Ranieri IS Mapei. He had R.Sassi in his backroom team at Fiorentina, Valencia, Atletico, Chelsea and Valencia again. Sassi would have remained Ranieri's link to the centre but by the time Ranieri became Monaco manager Sassi was already employed by Juventus (as part of their affiliation with the centre, and subsequent unbeaten season, record points tally, and multiple titles in a row.) Hence he had to ask them for a replacement partner, and they sent him Azzalin. This is confirmed by an Italian interview with Azzalin who says that he was recommended to Ranieri by the staff at the centre because Ranieri wanted to rekindle his relationship with them. Again I'll try and find a link for you.
I was really hoping for an answer from Linker's Boxers before he leaves about why there has been no mention of any of this in the press? Why is beetroot shots and thai monks given more credit that an advanced sports research centre? Why is Matt Reeves the hero when Azzalin is the real wizard?
