Oddly, given the way we set up with a high line , Soyuncu (however you spell it) would probably suit us best with his pace out of any I’ve seen .

Wasnt good today but...its 2 games in. Pep is having to use actual games to see the shapes, interaction etc as no pre season to experiment. Does he ever produce a meaningful save to keep us in a game or to protect us when we're leading a tight game ? He was shite against Lyon. There is no pressure on him for a starting spot and clearly his performance levels have dropped. He can ping it 70 yards to an attacker without fail. I want him to start keeping the ball out of the net too.

They were all penalties - stupid ones and avoidable if our defenders would actually defend

Worringly the fact that we didnt have Jesus or Kun would have made little difference to that result - we have seen those types of performances before where teams sit back, absorb and we lack the creativity to break them down and they hit on the break with pace, bypassing our pedestrian midfield as they have got sucked too far forward to recover (Ferna, Rodri and at othertimes Gundogan) and our defenders who struggle to defend one on one (especially Garcia, Mendy, Ota in the past and stones) - will dias make a difference - exposed to pace as he aint the quickest I dont think so hence my preferred choice would be Kounde) - though walker had a brain fart for the first penalty everyone saw what his pace can do when recovering against Vardy who had left garcia for dead

Thanks for getting it. Pep plays such a high line, only a few players could manage to fit in. I would go as far as to suggest Van Dyke would struggle to be successful in Peps system
