This defeat was entirely the responsibility of the coach.
He selected players in a system that left them entirely exposed. If it's true that Pep studies his opponents for a minimum of 6 six hours before we play & then discusses his plans with his coaches, one can only wonder at what they were thinking. We do not have the players to effectively play the systems that Pep wants to play. He's hanging them out to dry and the all the changes of tactics and players match by match is making things worse not better. The players look completely befuddled !!
After reading PEP CONFIDENTIAL I was more worried than enthused. Pep came across as obsessively evangelical about his beliefs, almost dangerously so. His personality appears to be very complex, emotional with extreme highs and lows, schizophrenic almost.
Knowing what our squad quality & mentality was like I was very uneasy even before a ball was kicked in anger. Coaches worked us out very quickly,Wenger even did it in the pre season friendly. The games tactics have moved on from 7 years ago and if Pep believes that he can turn sows ears into silk purses in the PL he's mistaken. You can put lipstick on a pig,but it's still a pig !!
Last nights defeat was not Bravos fault, and I for one don't rate him. But sacking Joe Hart could come back to haunt Pep,particularly if it becomes a rallying point for fans frustration. Joe would've been the one constant, experienced leader in a defence that has lacked everything required of even a mid table team.
After today's results we could be fifth,7 points behind the renters with arse next......12 months ago we were top ahead of Leicester. Anybody else now believe that Pep learns more from defeats & set backs than victories......no me neither !!
PS....CITY 2 - arse 1.
