I see us losing. I see a struggle in the first few games until after the pointless international break and the Leicester away game immediately after that. So many players due back one week before the season starts

Why is the kick-off set for 5pm? - the last train I can get home leaves Paddington at 8:32pm which means that I could probably watch the match and get there but no margin for extra time/penalties or transport issues between Wembley and the station.

It destroys the enjoyment of the match if constantly worrying about the return journey.

What is so bad about 3pm kick-offs?
There’s no extra time, if that helps.

Won't it be great if one of them can have a real breakthrough season, starting with the Charity Shield and other pre season friendlies, forcing themselves into contention.

Pep is the only thing preventing that sadly. Not complaining too much because of the whole him being the best manager ever thing which kind of makes up for it, but everything we've seen from him over the last five years tells us he'd probably rather convert Gundogan to false 9 than give Delap a proper, fair chance. Doyle will need about six injuries including Aké before getting a look in and Palmer is already competing with four wingers, probably five if Grealish signs, and will also be behind Bernardo in the pecking order.

That's kind of just who Pep is. He's said unambiguously in the past that he'd prefer to have a squad of about 20 players and train with just them every day, and bringing youngsters to train with the first team seems like more of an inconvenience than an opportunity to him. Foden was an exception presumably because the board forced his hand by pointing out that Foden was probably better than the likes of Nolito (who'd have thought?).

I'm assuming the next manager after Pep will be someone like Kompany who places more emphasis on youth because he knows he can't just try and keep doing exactly what Pep did. Kind of like Lampard for Chelsea, who got a few real quality first-teamers out of it.

Crazy that. No wonder there are so many injuries to players when they're not getting proper rest. The season has only just finished and we're straight into pre-season.

Not really. The league season finished 8 weeks ago today.

City always have 15+ players away at tournaments over the summer so it's easy to forget that most Premier League players will have been on holiday since May 23rd. A club like Crystal Palace for example only had one player at the Euros or Copa America that I can think of, Benteke. Even Arsenal only had three or four.
