Poor performance. Good result.

Strange decision to play Kompany under the circumstances but hopefully he won't be out too long.

Not affter a fight here but why is it strange to play arguably the worlds best centre half and club captain?

Yes Mangala and MDM did well midweek but we have no idea of their fitness after and maybe MDM was knackered or carrying a very slight knock. Or the gaffer just wanted his captain out there and he was fit to play but unfortunately picked up another knock. Shit happens and no amount of post game " why did he play or risk him" gets anyone anywhere or proves anything.

I agree for the most part with your can't wrap players in cotton wool view and was not critical of starting Silva v Newcastle but I would have put Vinnie on the bench today. Not sure though if the hamstring that appeared to go was same one that he recently injured.

Frank gets it spot on

Manchester City goalscorer Frank Lampard: "Those are the kind of games we need to get results, we needed to grind them out. We were not at our best but got three points.

"I've watched Leicester and seen even though they are down near the bottom, they are not short of passion. They showed that today. We were nowhere near the force we can be sometimes, but you have to show two sides to your game and I think we did that today.
True professional is Frank. Sums it up nicely.

A great three points. Good to have Silva back, Mangala was excellent.

However, two of the three senior players who didn't play in Rome were guilty of not supporting those who did and were understandably jaded. Toure and Sagna simply weren't good enough today, and I still believe that Navas just isn't cut out for a top four side. Awful decision making once again.

This, shameful efforts by these 3. Good job well done by the rest.
Wish we stop the timewasting tho, very raggie. Were better than them cnuts.

Would navas be a player if he didn't have his pace because I can't see much else he's bringing to the pitch.

a weeks rest now for the players then we can re group and smash palace 4-0 to go top for the weekend as the chavs play on Monday at Stoke

We got away with nothing, we ground out a win with the current situation regarding injuries it was a bloody good result

My feed only started work on 44 mins but from what I saw, we were never in real danger of conceding and there was nothing lucky about our goal.

It was though painful viewing and I thought the players game management in the final furlong was again poor. We made brain dead decisions and gave away soft free kicks; with the players we had out there, we should have done a better job of playing keep ball.

I can forgive other aspects of a below our best performance, given the tough away trip and injury issues.

You can put that down to tiredness IMO, but also it must be hard to have your game plan all worked only for the main striker to go off injured we had to make it up as we went along

I am sure that is the case and, quite honestly, having Pozo in is like only having ten and half men at the moment.

Job done, results grinded out like this can make or break the title challenge. Especially when you consider 3 of our first team strikers were basically injured. Kompany's injury is annoying but hopefully not too long.

Mangala MOTM, he was everywhere today. I felt Yaya didn't really do much just went through the motions, a bit poor considering he had a week off also.

Sagna to me continues to be pretty bang average, doesn't offer any attacking presence that we sometimes need.

Striker in January is needed, Jovetic proving he can't be relied on.

The way MDM is playing, we should be able to cope. Dzeko's injury is more alarming since we now have Pozo as our only striker.

lol can we apply for one of those emergency loans?

That is a good shout - Can we get a striker on loan? - I know it cannot be - but wish Bony was in our squad.

I saw most of the second half and thought Yaya and Sagna did Ok and it's a bit unfair to single out Navas as he was only on for 20 mins I believe.

Navas's decision-making is suspect but teams are very wary of his pace so he makes space for other players. He is the only wide option with pace and overall has been an upgrade on Adam Johnson. We can't have A-listers in every position otherwise you have too many big egos and the potential for more conflict in the squad. He seems content to be in and out of the team and every top squad has players like that.

I didn't see the whole game today but recently I think Yaya's workrate has improved. I hope his CL suspension has made him realise that he is not indispensable and that he is in danger of losing his place unless he is more consistent.

Sagna has disappointed me overall as he has been impotent going forward but from what I saw he was fine defensively today.
