Good buy if they get him as thiago will be if they get him.

They won't be any weaker next season other than perhaps the lack of taggerts influence on refs and the players not quite being as scared of Moyes hairdryer!

I read somewhere that the football Everton played is a million miles away from how moyes actually likes his teams to play. He made the best of what he had, and we may see his style more at a club with more talented players/more money.

I think the only reason that Baines is so highly rated and he causes such a stir is because he offers a little bit of class to an Everton team that are such a dowdy Football side.

He does take a wicked Free Kick and he is an excellent crosser of the Ball but primarily he is a Full Back. His tackling is no stronger than any of a dozen Full Backs one could name and if you watch closely he is an awful Ball watcher and often slow to react and out of position.

He isn't a patch on Cashley or Clichy or indeed Evra.

Baines is really good going forward. Defensively? Well here are Clichy vs. Cole vs. Evra vs. Baines stats from last season...

Tackles per game:
- Clichy: 3.2
- Baines: 2.4
- Cole: 2.1
- Evra: 2.4

Clichy > Evra = Baines > Cole

Interceptions per game:
- Clichy: 2.4
- Baines: 1.5
- Cole: 1.2

Defensively... statistically... Clichy is the best left-back defender in the Premier League (Edit: Well, of this bunch of course, there may be other candidates). Stats don't tell the whole story of course but Clichy's mistakes are rare, so rare that when he is skinned or has a bad game defending it's cause for discussion (FA Cup final).

If Dzeko was their centre forward, he would easily score 30+ goals a season. I hope we keep him to get on the end of the multitude of crosses being whipped in from Navas.
