No mate it's just that it's clear it's not nailed on as we've been lead to believe no?
You know signings aren't always announced immediately. We may have already signed someone and it could just be posturing.

All I can say bud is if you don't like the info provided in here maybe just watch the OS and stay away from the transfer forums.. easiest advice I can give you.

An interesting and positive play that the club may have made from my POV is that we might have hedged our bets equally with Sane and Aubameyang. We've evaluated both and we're giving ourselves two options, equally happy with either. We won't be taken for fools this year with Sanes price or we'll pay the premium for Aubameyangs proven quality. Theory of course but food for thought. It's a win either way...hedging done the right way. We really seem to be winning in the long term these days. Trust the process.

To be fair, they pass on third or forth hand information they have at that time that can change at any minute. I for one am always interested to hear it but I admittedly take it lightly as the only certainty is the OS.
Which is what the ITK's (the real ones, not the idiots) have always said. Even Txiki wouldn't have known until the last minute that Laporte was going to do an about turn.

Yep without doubt. I think we can safely say that our recognised ITKs are not WUMs so I think it's important to apply a bit of common sense when something they've said doesn't materialise straight away.

If his release clause goes down go 33m euros next season, why not wait til then and allow him a year to develop? He will likely get more game time at Schalke anyway. At present his efficiency and end product is probably inline with a good number of top flight wingers so he probably wouldn't be giving us anything other worldly in the next year or so, so why not give him another year to see if he incrementally improves?

Seems to me to be star money being thrown at someone who may or may not be the next star.

Because if we wait then he'll most likely go to Bayern. Think we want to steal a march on these clubs.

Because Bayern will win that battle if we leave it go til next summer. If he is great this year they will nab him for the 33 reported figure. We won't. Better to have a look now if he does fulfil his potentiatial then hurrah.

Maybe, maybe not. They'll be plenty of prospects who emerge between now and next season if that does happen. For the kind of money being reported, we should sign somebody who can contribute on the level of De Bruyne/Aguero.

I just look at us and compare our business to other clubs, and i scratch my head. Nolito and Gundogan are good buys to me (Gundogan is a risk given his injury history, but his quality is proven and the outlay on him isn't ridiculous) because they can contribute immediately.

Sane, Stones and Sterling on the other hand are all young players who may or may not go on to be world class, but will end up costing us round £45m each. Sane scored 8 goals and set up a further 6 in 38 games last season - fairly similar stats to Sterling. Stones meanwhile was in and out of the Everton team. Both Stones and Sane will most likely make it more difficult for Iheanacho and Denayer to get valuable minutes. I just think it's detrimental to what we already have and is a massively expensive experiment which may or may not work.

I could understand it if Sane and Stone and even Sterling were acquired for the kind of fee that evidently factors in the risk element of them not actually having the sort of ceiling we initially expect them to have, but the fees being touted are world class fees.

Embolo has just gone to Schalke for £20m ish, Dembele has just gone to Dortmund for £15m ish, Coman's option to go to Juve will cost about £16m, even Renato Sanches (which is also borderline ridiculous) even comes out considerably cheaper than the figures we are looking at or have spent. It's getting insane.
