Leroy Sané

Genuine question, with things looking like they might be stalling in Sane transfer talks, could signing Gabriel Jesus reduce the need for us to meet Sane's valuation? 32mil euros for Jesus, isnt cheap for a 19 year old from Palmeiras, so I'm guessing we might have big plans for him, especially if he could still join us in Jan. Both seem similar type of players so if Jesus deal is done, maybe we no longer feel under pressure to meet Schalke's asking price?
Gabe Jesus plays on the left or striker , we could however put Moreno on the right in 17/18 and not worry about Sané's clause.

Realistically, Schalke are acting a bit like Everton hoping to stand by a crazy valuation, calls to challenge for CL... Except we know how Everton's story is going falling further and further back. Outside of Bayern/BVB there's no real favorite for CL spots in Bundesliga. So far Schalke's transfer business doesn't inspire any confidence that just because they finished 5th they are going to sneak back in CL.

thanks mate!

If Shalke rate him at 50m euros a week. Why don't they pay him the going rate for a player in that bracket?

Very odd that they are possibly willing to hold out a year to take less money for him. We should just pay the 50 if we think he is that good and want him that badly.

But why does it feel like all of the Bundesliga teams, maybe with the exception of BVB, seem to be OK with the fact that they are a feeder team for Bayern and almost willing to help them (lower fee next year for Bayern to possibly sweep in). Its almost as if they all know they have no chance of beating Bayern for the title and are OK with just support Bayern in winning Europe.

Don't think there are any exceptions. Dortmund have been pillaged by Bayern, and there appears to be fuck all they can do about it, other than hope it doesn't work out and they get the player back on a reduced fee.

This is why anyone watching the Premier League should be grateful to ourselves and Chelsea for stopping the rags creating a similar scenario when Wenger retired from title challenges. The reality is Bayern have won 14 of the last 20 titles and the longer that continues the more beaten other teams will feel. There was a stage with Premier League clubs where they'd nearly offer to give a player a lift to the swamp if the rags enquired about them and it's like that now with the Spanish teams - Barca/Real and the Portuguese teams with Porto/Benfica (not helped by mandatory buyout clauses).
I think after a while it creates a mental conditioning among the fans of other clubs that when Bayern are interested in a player they immediately give the player up as lost and that makes it a far more comfortable experience for the club executives to sell to Bayern than to a 'newbie' team from abroad like City, although it doesn't take much skill in logic to figure out that if Schalke are going to sell one of their best players/prospects, it's better both for the club that they sell them abroad to a team that they're less likely to find themselves in direct competition with and also better for the league that they can sell them for top dollar to a Premier League club increasing the cash pool in a league which is hardly wealthy - as for the retaining talent argument, Bayern aren't going to have a roster with significantly less talent on it if Sané signs for us over them, they'll just sign elsewhere so that shouldn't be a concern of Schalke's. Same goes for the paranoia about the Premier League's financial power - it's better for Schalke to have our money in their pocket than another club's and the only way for continental clubs outside the 'big 3' to compete with the financial power of the PL clubs is to maximise their dealings with us at every opportunity to grow their own wealth. It's a basic economic rule that to grow a smaller company organically you need to take advantage of the most wealthy companies that you can deal with and do it on your own terms whenever possible.

I knew it was a mistake to go into a discussion with a rhetorical master like yourself. I have not forgotten your tireless efforts together with the rest of the "Pell not Pep" gang to hunt down any ever so minor voice critical to "Pell", and then silence them by talking until their ears fell off. I take it you have not come to terms with Pep being our manager since you are so busy arguing that the players he tries to buy are not worth it. Carl Jenkinson? Ha, ha, how stupid do you think I am?
I think you have confused me with someone else. I'm as big a fan of Pep as you will find on here and have firmly been in the Pell out camp for the last 18 months.

I take your word for it, and would like to apologise if I made a mistake.

In short, it makes sense that Shalke is gouging or attempting to gouge us.
