Leroy Sané

Its not though is it. Went on to better without him,he clearly wasn't missed . Engage brain first next time

Again, nonsense.

He was the pivotal player that season when we did 100 points, and we were absolutely robbed of progressing in champs league.

He was the only player who consistently turned up versus our rivals when Sterling and Jesus would regularly vanish.

He won YPOTY for good reason.

His issues had nothing to do with his on field performances.

How many of them were in the league and what you showing me stat bollocks for,as if he was ever 1st choice. Didn't mind losing him wasn't good enough. That's the bottom line
All of them were in the league, the clue would be the bit that said PREMIER LEAGUE and then the number of appearances, though I can see why you would think stats would be bollocks.

Just for info, the last set of numbers are appearances and goals from all competitions, so the not ever first choice Leroy Sane played 49 and 47 appearances in two different seasons.

My other post, if you have not seen it, says he played an average of 68 minutes a game for City throughout his time here, again suggesting he played plenty enough for a scrub.

And the reason he was subbed regularly was we also had Bernardo silva who got feck all minutes that season.

The amount of people on this thread who were pushing for the club to bring him back was puzzling to me. As you said, he wasn't consistent, particularly after the 17/18 season, when he was brilliant for us. If he could produce that level of performance 7 or 8 games in every 10, I'd have been all in favour of him coming back. But he was never likely to do that. In his last season with us that he was fully fit he wasn't an automatic, guaranteed starter. Pep benched him a few times, IIRC. And as long as Pep was going to be here, he was unlikely to bring Leroy back. I'm pretty sure he wasn't happy with the way Sane (and his mother) engineered the move to Bayern.
I think most people saw the "potential" as well as his flashes of brilliance.
The club had a new aura/feel good factor then, so him leaving risked denting that somewhat.
As it happened, it made no difference. So he should be left in the past now. Good luck to him though!

I genuinely believe that if Sane had stayed and been consistently pushed, by Pep and in the PL, he could have reached Ballon D’or levels. Unfortunately he was bullied by the German FA into signing for Bayern, and the sense is that he has coasted along ever since. He has obviously had a good career, but it could have been much more.

correct! left out of Germanys 2018 WC squad as he wasn't playing in Germany at the time and Bayern desperately wanted him, turned his head as a young lad you want to represent your country

That was just not the reason. Sane did not match as good into the tactics with the national team as he did at City. There was tactical reasons for that, too - but you do not change Kroos' role for a youngster if you have Marco Reus as the starter for that position.

Leroy played great for you - in a bit different role - and did not for the German team. There was not one match in which he really was good before that World Cup. At the end he was in the preliminary squad - and was one of the 3 players that were cut off it. I think that at the end counted that he skipped the Confed cup the previous season for a surgery on the nose. So the squad places for the tournament were given to players that helped to win that minor title like Brandt and Draxler.

Would have won the CL with us in 2021, had he stayed.

A prime example of the "I'm not mad...just disappointed" feeling.
