In nearly all of my 47 years, we have never been able to buy talent like this player has. For decades we would have been delirious that a prospect like Sane could be on our radar and elated that such a prospect would consider signing for us. Now, a three months in, with no pre-season behind him and a small number of substitute appearances, he is being criticised. What have we (some of us) become?

He 20 years old, playing in a new league, in a new country, for a new manager, in a new formation and behind some of the greatest players that the premier league has offered. If that isn't a recipe for patience then I despair.

Spot on

You think after deciding Sterling was shite last season some people would've learned not to write off a young player after a few months. Similar sort of narrative taking shape here.

Totally agree....I think I will side with Pep who has history of spotting and devoloping talent than someone passing judgement on a keyboard.

Oh...and I will add that no true City fan would slag off a player, especially one coming from a new league at a young age in today's game.

The only big criticism that I'd level at him from the very little we've seen is that he seems a bit soft, he ducks out of 50/50 balls. If he wants to be a success in this league then he's going to have to learn to take hits off defenders and be brave. It's not a big concern by any means and it's something he can improve on with games and confidence.

For sure we haven't seen him play to the levels that made us want to bring him to the club. Very early days and he is probably still finding his feet. There is a cracking player in there, we just need to be patient and allow him the time he needs

I don't understand what's wrong with him. Against Burnley he was cutting in so many times when surely he should be following Sterling's lead and using his pace on the wings? That's what Guardiola apparently likes as well. I'm willing to wait a couple of months.

A couple of months? Glad to see you're willing to wait, I'm sure the lad appreciates it...

He's a signing for next year, he's bedding in and will be perfectly capable but don't expect consistency just yet!!

He's a signing for 5-10 years not just next year.

I'm a little concerned about how little we've seen him but Pep knows what he wants in a signing, and Sané is definitely talented enough so they will work it out eventually and then we'all have one of the most promising players in the planet.

He's got his family with him in Manchester, the managers and coaches speak German and so do a few of his teammates he's got everything he needs to succeed.

This lad has everything he needs to Be world class in the next couple of years. Let's be patient.

Only thing I've seen that concerns is that when he runs in to space, as he often does very well, the other players don't seem keen to pass to him. They hesitate for a few seconds rather than instinctively making the pass. It's giving rival defenders time to mark Sane up and start harassing him. He needs to be getting those passes immediately

Looked scared for a while, but after a few good moments he started to shine. Some great dribbling & runs today - showed what he can bring to the team.

Subbing him was a massive mistake. Clichy offers nothing going forward and only made defensive errors.

Moses just stopped defending (because he didn't need to) and went on the attack when clichy came on and it made things worse.

Thought he played well today. Started the game slowly but that was down to most of our players being down the other side of the pitch. Got more and more into it and then bizarrely got subbed. Can only assume he's not ready for 90mins, which to be honest he should be by now
