Leroy Sane - 2017/18 performances

It was a bit silly, I'd had a few too many shandies.
He still frustrates the hell out of me sometimes though.

He's a winger, a young winger. His work rate and team work are top notch.

All wingers will frustrate from time to time.

I get you in that he's wastefull from time to time, but if that "frustrates you to hell" then i wonder trough how many brick walls you ran back in the day that we had Navas.
OMG! Navas flashbacks!

Navas was singularly excellent at outpacing defenders, getting into just the exact, perfect, attacking position - where you'd kill for anyone else in our side to be while in possession of the ball.

Joe Hart would have been a better crosser/goal scorer if only in possession of the ball where Navas was.

But, yeah, Sane is a bit frustrating at times - but more often than not, his end product - cross or shot - comes good. And he should only improve in the upcoming years.

Funnily enough I learnt to accept Navas but I know this boy is world class on his day and while I know he can't reproduce that form all the time , I want to see more maybe 10-20%. That would make a massive difference to,the team's performance.

Sure who doesn't. Granted i can understand it in the context of his talent, but i wouldn't mind seeing the whole team add 10-20% to it's performance.

But were a bit spoiled? The lad has 7 goals and 10 assists just in the PL as a winger and the season aint over yet.

I want to see him play at cf.

One layoff he made to Silva from a central position in the box, was as good or better than anything Serge or Jesus have done all season. Genuine quality 'target man' type stuff.

There is a lot more to this lad.

He shares a lot of similarities as Ronaldo when he was at United. Same height, fast, skill, good technique and a bit to arrogant sometimes. Ronaldo took his game to the next level by spending time in the gym, I’d love to see Sane do the same.

He almost was playing cf at times last night, seemed to be alternating with Aguero quite a bit.

Yes he went in there a bit more seeing Sterling was out.

I would like to see him do half a game there.

Said on another thread that he is so underrated still because many are failing to appreciate how isolated he is compared to Sterling who has Walker running beyond or creating space for him.

Sane stays wide and either gives and goes or takes the player on whilst his full back sits behind not overlapping.

It is why Sterling can get into the box more off the ball too. When Mendy comes back Sane can do the same and with his incredible close control and skill he will be even more effective.

Up there with Mbappe as the best young player in the world for me. Not seen a player with such incredible pace and skill when running with the ball at such a young age. Mbappe probably has a better mental strength to ignore errors and try again but petulance is often a character trait of a star player - see Ronaldo.

The Sterling Sane Jesus axis will continue to develop and become more fluid and interchangeable as they gel and develop and with Mendy back in the side. Currently Sane needs Silva and those incredibly weighted through balls behind the full back if he is double marked (not always but sometimes), when Mendy comes in what the hell do the opposition do?!
