Leroy Sane - 2017/18 performances

Said on another thread that he is so underrated still because many are failing to appreciate how isolated he is compared to Sterling who has Walker running beyond or creating space for him.

Sane stays wide and either gives and goes or takes the player on whilst his full back sits behind not overlapping.

It is why Sterling can get into the box more off the ball too. When Mendy comes back Sane can do the same and with his incredible close control and skill he will be even more effective.

Up there with Mbappe as the best young player in the world for me. Not seen a player with such incredible pace and skill when running with the ball at such a young age. Mbappe probably has a better mental strength to ignore errors and try again but petulance is often a character trait of a star player - see Ronaldo.

The Sterling Sane Jesus axis will continue to develop and become more fluid and interchangeable as they gel and develop and with Mendy back in the side. Currently Sane needs Silva and those incredibly weighted through balls behind the full back if he is double marked (not always but sometimes), when Mendy comes in what the hell do the opposition do?!

I have said on here that if he was playing against us, even if he was struggling in the game, we would prefer it if he didn't get the ball.

I'm not sure he & Sterling would be the same players if we had signed Sanchez in the summer, so whilst they have a bit of space, I would like to see Sané in the middle a bit more, to see if he could become a high scoring player, before we sign some other character who takes all his space.

It's amazing that he can do all that, beating 5 players - 3 in a space the size of a phone box, and pick out the pass to Aguero, but other times, he can be in behind with no defenders near and cross the ball to nobody because he didn't look.

I know it's because he's young, and still developing, but he can be so devastating when he's on it that it's even more frustrating

Reading from the same page pal if my TV had ears:-)

Leroy has it to him that he often dissapears during phases of the match and then suddently provides a flash of brilliance. Why should we be concerned though if it yields a goal and assist anyway? He's young, highly talented, inconsistent as can be expected, still usefull to us normally. Yes he should work hard to make the best out of his talent, if he slacks i hope Pep pushes him on the right track aswell, i leave that to Pep to decide.

Just to reiterate he does not disappear, sometimes it is just a case that he is marked out of the game due to a part time left back. Next time Sterling and Sane play watch how Walker's movement helps create space for Sterling to drift into different areas of the pitch without condensing the play. The opposition have to watch Walker as they know he is dangerous.

Zinchenko is getting forward a bit more than Delph ever would (under instructions not to) and it gives Sane that little bit more room which is all he needs.
