Leroy Sane - 2018/2019 performances

Not quite our best player but I'd say he was our most dangerous

We became toothless when he was hauled off. It was a grave mistake. What did Mahrez do to warrant staying on? I'd rather someone that makes the mistakes but can produce a moment of magic to change the game than a ghost.
Doesn't Mahrez have as many, if not more, goals and assists as Sané?

Not bad for a ghost against some magical pkayer who's 90% legs and leaves the ball behind him.

Tough call being a manager .
I'm not advertising myself for Pep's position or slagging him off. Who doesn't make wrong decisions from time to time? Just saying it as it is. Most of the players were dire in the first half (and indeed the whole match) but Sane has that X factor about him. Can take players on and cause confusion to a well organized defence more than most. He was taken away and Sterling was made to play in a less productive position where he was up against the genius defender that Azpilicueta is.

All the while Mahrez remained a ghost. Can somone honestly tell me that there was nothing wrong with that decision?

No it wasn't about stats mate. It was about what we needed for this game. They were very very organized and we needed to break them down somehow. There are few good dribblers in the team and you remove Sane?

I ask you a honest question. How did you think the game would pan out after Sane's withdrawal? For me it was clear as day.

Well, given the performances against Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and United without him I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion without being biased towards the player.

He was shit, he had his chances to "turn the game" and shit the bed. Sterling got the hook last season for even worse and blatant cock ups, why should Sané be any different.

Let me ask you this, was his performance better than Mahrez's? Not "less bad" etc was he that much better that the disparity in their post match threads should be as it is? Nope but the reason is as clear as day.

If it was the other way about, Mahrez would still be getting pelters for missing those chances and sleeping on the first goal.

Felt sorry for Sane, shut down by four chavs and had that one footed static comedian behind him, if we had someone like Fern behind him that would have been three certain points won !

It seems like Pep trusts Mahrez more than Sane. Do I understand why? Not at all. I was gobsmacked when Leroy got hauled off. To me he was our most dangerous player. He might have done better on the Kante goal but given the run and shot were right in the middle, maybe others could have as well. TBF, thought it was an ok team performance in first half, particularly our press. Second half we were a shambles and the final score could have been more.

Sane should have put his foot through them early chances but he’s still one of, if not, our best player and you can’t sub your best players off just to pacify a new signing otherwise it will cost you dear in the big games.

I'll repeat what I said about basing my viewpoint on what we needed at the time. Arsenal, Spurs and United were quite different. We scored early in most of these hames iirc. Here we were met with a well organized defence that we were trying to breach. Sane made poor mistakes but was one of our most dangerous players in the first half. Did we imagine that Mahrez would somehow find his dribbling form (the one he had whilst at Leicester which he hasn't shown since)?

Predictably we even became more blunt. I prefer the guy that makes mistakes but provides that little bit of hope than the one you don't even see for 60 mins so I don't think I am biased.

Sane and Sterling frighten the faeces out of defenders. They are not left shitless when facing Mahrez. They are all three highly dangerous players but Mahrez is no 3 in the frightening defenders stakes.
