To be honest Matty, I think a Prem Squad needs 4 top end centre halfs for depth. If we get Lescott, we would have Toure, Lescott, Ned and Kompany.

As much as I agree with you, Dunne is better than a makeweight in a deal for Lescott, the bigger picture leans me towards thinking this would be a good deal for us.

Exactly!

As it stands if we pay straight cash for Lescott we would have 5th and 6th choice centre backs earning over £100k pw between them, this would be a farce!

yeah and of course we really need the money, there will be no injuries, the African Cup of Nations will be cancelled and the tooth fairy be proved to be real

I get Everton Tv ( which is suprisingly good) and there are loads of interview's etc one of which Kenwright states categorically that Moyes has the final decision , if you do get Lescott either expect Moyes to walk or a lot of spin to justify.
I went on saturday and as much as he did nothing wrong you could see Lescott;s heart wasnt in it so he has to go.
Its a shame because he has been part of our recent revival and its like you with SWP you hate to see him in next teams jersey but money talks!!!
you not wanting lescott to go is nothing like us with swp when chelsea came calling
he came up through our acadamy where as you bought lescott and even when he went
although we were sad to see him go we still wanted him to do well

Answer me this should a teams 5th and 6th choice for a position be players coming towards the end of their careers? Players who have been proven time and time again not to be good enough and who will not get any better or should our 5th and 6th choice players be young talent that we hope to bring through, players who are at a young age and can improve?

Now you may wish to see Dunne come into the team if Toure goes away to the African Nations and Lescott/new centre back, Ned and or Kompany are injured all at the same time but on the off chance (id say we are talking less than 1%) I would prefer to see a youngster be given a shot eg Ben Mee otherwise we might as well dispense of the academy now!

actually mate you are right..Lescott to us is very good but not a legend i agree.
But any team is loathed to sell their better players

i dont think dunne should leave . . . . . . . . . . yet! i'd like us to bring in another CB but feel dunne will still be required, remember kompany is out for a while yet, i stated in a thread somewhere i think dunne will stay til jan, and if he's not gettin enough required games he may decide or hughes may decide thats the time he goes, with kompany out we'd be left with toure, ned and dunne, +1, and when kompany comes back non of us are even sure if hughes sees him as part of the back 4 or as DM, so dunne shouldn't be part of any deal just yet imo.

morning all.. see this thread has us all presuming again...allkinds of rumours flying around this morning, could be tbh offered or dunney,or even petrov.. only 1 of those id like to see stay is dunne, petrov too moddy and has a cant be arsed attitude, tbh.well what can you say,he even injures our own.. dunney did well at the weekend . and you wantefc? you come here for the banter my foot, we know you here for pam.. and weve refused 2 offers for her already, what is it with evertonians, NO MEANS NO ..lmao

of course mate your right to lose your best players always stings a better and more accurate comparision would have been when you lost rooney to the rags and look how he's treated on his return trips to goodison park. There is the difference between the two sets of fans imo when swp came back with chelsea he was always cheered before the game

i offered to whack pam's crackerjacks but she said anyone but an evertonian so that ruled me out!!!

Richard Dunne does not want to leave City.

As others have said-we are going to need a big squad if we are going to attempt to challenge on any level this season.
Dunee still has something to offer IMO.

And do you know what-on pure sentiment-I hope he stays, sees the season out,and is granted the testimonial and recognition as a brilliant servant of MCFC that he so richly deserves.

--------

you usually post constructive and fairly objective comments. From a City perspective we feel Moyes has handled this terribly. Clearly disucssions and negotiations take place that we are not privy to, and quite rightly so. This deal is not as stated by Moyes that being a firm no otherwise the board would have commented to that effect.

This suggests to me one of two scenarios, that Moyes is engineering a split with Kenwright or that Moyes is being undermined by Kenwright. Either way is does not bode well and could have very easily been avioded if Moyes had accepted City's overtures towards the player who has made his intent quite clear by handing in a transfer request. Moyes now risks alienating the rest of the squad by denying one of their number a move that he feels would further his career. Other players will be asking themselves the obvious question that if a club came in for that player would Moyes again spit out his dummy and deny the player the opportunity. This leads me to ask the question, if Moyes would accept an offer for any other player from say, Real Madrid would this be acceptable to him, that is to say selling to a 'big' club so the question is does the tranfer policy at Everton hinge on who David Moyes thinks is a big club?

In any event, surely even Evertonians can see he is behaving not for the benefit of the club but by his stubborness is damaging your season so far.
