We have de Jong for DM for cover/ rotation.

Only if we get a new DM. If Barry plays DM, then someone needs to play the CM role Barry plays usually in the 4-3-3. Johnson? In the 4-3-3, we lack cover for Barry and Ireland, and if we dont get another CB, then we lack two dedicated players for the DM spot, as Zab is the right back, Kompany needs to focus on CB if we don't want to see Dunne and TBH getting games, and Barry is crucial at CM. The way for us then to improve our aerial strength would be to focus on the DM spot. Or maybe the left back spot, although it is difficult to find left backs that are good in the air and also able to contribute in attack properly.

Our team is finished.

GK: Given and Taylor.
RB: Zabaleta, Richards and Onouha.
CB: Toure, Dunne, Kompany, Onouha, Richards, Ben Haim and possibly Barry if required.
LB: Bridge and Garrido.
DM: Kompany, Barry, de Jong and Zabaleta.
RM: SWP, Ireland, Etuhu, Weiss, Bellamy and Richards could play there.
LM: Petrov, Robinho and Barry.
CM: Ireland, Barry and Johnson.
AM: Robinho, Ireland, Johnson and SWP.
ST: Adebayor, Tevez, Bellamy, Robinho and Santa Cruz.

Based on this, the only way I could see Lescott needed if we lose a left back but Barry could play there if we're short. £15 million is too much for a decent player and we're willing to pay £20+ million, if I was Moyes I would snap there hands off.

I agree, the fact that Lescott can cover left back makes him a much better proposition, not sure we have enough cover there...although i have been very impressed with the young lad Mcgivern.

We only need two DM's - one to play and another on the bench.

We do however, IMO need another creative midfielder to cover Ireland, especially as Elano has gone (even though he ended up playing more as winger towards the end).

Somud - this is what I would have answered but still believe that Lescott is needed in place of TBH

What I don't understand is why it takes so long to 'prepare' a third bid. We've supposedly been 'preparing' a third bid for a week. As far as I can tell, we haven't bid for Lescott since his transfer request was made. You'd think with us having made two bids that it would be a case of going through the motions with a bigger figure.

Yes, we only need two DMs, we need two players for each position.

CB: Kompany,Dunne,Ned,Toure
RB: Richards,Zab
DM: De Jong
CM: Barry, Johnson
AM: Ireland

There, we lack some cover in those two positions. Even if you say that we can just play Zab or Barry at DM, that leaves us exposed on the other positions. Do you agree?

I've been equally impressed with Trippier at right back, could soon be better than any of the current first teamers.

If you send in a third bid just a day or two after your last one was rejected, it sends the message that you would still be prepared to go a lot further, and they would just reject again and wait for the fourth bid. By delaying it a bit, it at least suggests you have reluctantly improved your offer, and doesn't smack of quite so much desperation. It's not like PC games where you send another bid in on the same day you had one rejected. The timing needs to be right, and psychological factors come into play.
