But my point remains the same - I don't see why City fans should get hung up on the fee paid and a few million here and there when it isn't even going on the club's bottom line, according to the Sheikh.

Because Moyes, given £20m + to spend will make Everton a better team, and squad. And they will be harder for us to beat, on matchday and on the league standings at the end of the season.

anyone else think its gone awfully quiet on this at mo? either somethings about to happen or its still a non-starter?

I think it's because DSOB has been given his marching orders!

Convinced this will happen this week, the Everton debarcle at the weekend, signed, sealed and delivered this deal.

has dsob really been given his marching orders? If so that would be better than any transfer in (or maybe on a par with Messi)

i dare say we have enquired about players and been scared off, but I can't think of a deal which progressed, like this one, where the player and agent have clearly shaken hands on a deal, and we have walked away leaving the player high and dry.

Actually we did - RSC in January, so I stand corrected.

Its the inbuilt City defense mechanism that something in the future is going to come back and haunt us (i will be fooked if i know what it is)

I agree,so lets just sign him,as Hughes has said we will never go on a spending spree like it again as we will just have to top up the squad in seasons to come.

Dunne is past it im afraid-he got skinned in the first half by one of there forwards who cut into the box after giving him a six yard start-he got away with it on Saturday and Lescott will improve us bigtime.

With the RSC deal in Jan we walked away because of BFS and a possible the knee injury (rumours of failed medical at the time)

but we always knew that in the summer we'd be getting RSC for 16-18 million due the the activation of the release clause. Maybe we agreed with RSC that we'd be back in the summer if he got his knee operation done ASAP. In a way I don't think we left him high and dry there was just a delay

I couldn't disagree more....

Explain....
We had 4 main points that needed addressing from last season,
1, Our away form
2, Goals against
3, Coming from behind
4, Goals scored from set plays
Hughes has with the signings to date addressed 2 of the 4 but until we sign a 2nd CB we will remain weak when it comes to goals against and goals scored from set plays, Lescott addresses both issues at once and provides cover at LB.

If that's the case then why is Moyes doing his nut about the whole thing then?

Money in the bank, especially at the end of the window, means trying like mad to find a player who improves you, wants to come and fits in with your wage structure. It is not easy.

That's absolutely correct. I would also add that we have suffered from having a right sided centre half on the left side of the back 2 since Distin left. It's not essential but it helps, and your point about filling in at left back is a good one too.

If we get Lescott I wouldn't be surprised to see Garrido leave.

Im bored with this Lescott situ!

Lets either get it done or walk away and find someone else its not long till 31st August.

Our squad is looking top draw but even though we played well at times on Saturday I still think the addition of another quality centre half is evident for all to see especially if Toure gets injured and leaves in January for a month in the Africa's cup!

Think Ned is brilliant and will be a future City and England captain but still picks up the odd injury and would benefit from playing with Toure and another qualty CB!

Personnally Kompany is a competent Centreback but I prefer him in midfield and think he plays better in the midfield than in defence.

So there you go!

Leave it till Jan, hopefully his value will drop and means Everton have no money to bring in new players before the transfer window starts. In the mean time possibly an offer for Upson or just stick with what we have got, Toure and Ned at centre back with Kompany providing competition when he returns to full fitness.
