First of all, I think Lescott is better than both.

Secondly, he clearly wants to come

Thirdly, I don't care what other club do with their money or how much we give them. I don't know why everyone gets so obsessed with this point, either. We're not doing this to weaken the opposition, we're doing it to strenghten City. Even if we do give them a few extra mill, there's no guarantees it won't all go ont he overdraft, and there are certainly no guarantees they'll buy a better player than they lost.

You may not care, but as you point out, it's not your money. Sheikh Mansour may have a personal fortune of 55bn but that isn't Man City's personal treasure chest. He's a businessman and will be investing shrewdly in us to the point of making us self sufficient.

He also has a project to make us the best team in the Premiership and then Europe. And the first stage in that is weakening our immediate rivals for top 6 slots, which every single one of our transfers this close season has been about. That's why we're not going to give Everton 30m for 10m defender.

I think it's because DSOB has been given his marching orders!

Convinced this will happen this week, the Everton debarcle at the weekend, signed, sealed and delivered this deal.

Sorry mate, but weakening our rivals is not part of City's agenda. No way. Posters on here like to say it is but the fact is Hughes clearly want proven Premiership players, that's why they are coming from our rivals.

I'll say it again, The Sheik wants to take City into the top four and he's prepared to pay what it takes. Have we walked away from a single transfer for monetry reasons? I don't think so.

We don't want to be ripped off, of course, we want to pay the least we can get away with. That's why this transfer is dragging on. We could have slapped £30m on the table on day one and probably ended up paying £35m. As someone said earlier, you negotiate carefully. Everton's hand is becoming weaker in all this, therefore we are negotiating successfully.

I don't even think self-sufficiency is high on the agenda either. I don't know what our wage bill is but I bet we are a million miles away from it. I think this is all part of a bigger plan for Abu Dhabhi.

Garry Cook has already admitted that we have walked away from deals because of the outlandish figures being quoted.

i dare say we have enquired about players and been scared off, but I can't think of a deal which progressed, like this one, where the player and agent have clearly shaken hands on a deal, and we have walked away leaving the player high and dry.

Actually we did - RSC in January, so I stand corrected.

But my point remains the same - I don't see why City fans should get hung up on the fee paid and a few million here and there when it isn't even going on the club's bottom line, according to the Sheikh.
