As somebody who started this thread that we had gone back in for him, think I'm allowed to pass comment a little on this?

Lescott was clearly not injured when he played for Everton at the weekend against Rochdale!

I can tell you that we do hope to have this done by Friday, that is the the impression City have from various parties.

Everton aren't particularly interested in play-cash deals (although Onuoha is just a name that Moyes floated out there to Merseyside press)

Everton want straight cash and it will be a lot nearer the £18m I originally stated than the ridiculous £25-30m elsewhere.

If Onuoha is thrown in to the pot, it is because Ned wants to go.
Tolmie do YOU think Ned wants out, due to lack of opportunity if we get our 2 CB targets ?

Ned's a fighter he's proved that, so I believe he will continue to fight for his place. If it doesnt work then it means a better player has taken his place which is the scenario a good club needs...All our new players and existing players will have to fight for a place in the future..

Ive always said that sentiment has no place in the future of Manchester City football Club and I stick by it..we will lose players we love but they will be replaced by better players..
I would love Ned to be a part of the City project but he will have to prove his worth.

Ned is an intelligent lad, recall him saying a few weeks back that he is just happy to be part of the squad.

But if he has been given an insight that his immediate future at the club is blocked, then he has a decision to make.

Everton are desperate for outright cash, but a move to Merseyside and another big club may appeal, not having to move out the area.

My own opinion of Ned is that he is not quite good enough. He has the physicality and speed, but a bit like Richards, positionally dubious and short distribution is very poor.

But I also remember Ferdinand having similar probs as a kid, maybe the centre-back postion is something you grow in to.

Either way, Ned won't get the time to do that gorwing at the rate he needs.

It would be a downer for us in terms of the UEFA plans to retain homegrown players in the squad, though.

Some of you are unbelieveable someone posts info he has received then gets slated give him a break. I posted last night that negotations were completed and but the clubs are still at logger heads over the fee. I would suspect something is happening but he also may not have flown to the US as Lescott has an injury hence why he had his personal trainer with him in Manchester at the end of last week.

Gents if you dont believe these posts then fair enough but stop giving fellow fans grief for trying to keep you up to date.

None of the players have flown to the states yet, they go this afternoon. Also Lescott wouldn't have played in our friendly against Rochdale if he was injured so your wrong in sooo many ways!

Ned and Micah don't have the finest touch but they still achieve better pass completion percentages than most of their team mates so they do get the short simple ball to a team mate more often than not; whether the weight of pass and other levels of refinement are top class is another matter.

I've had enough of hearing about this overated carthorse. A 100k a week Ned + £30m you've gotta be having a laugh. Ned is far superior to this guy never mind the 100k a week, the more ridiculous it sounds.

WTF is going on his arse goes when he plays for England this guy is sh*t

I'd say you know nothing, however its clear you know even less then this!

The figures of £25m - £30m are SO far from the mark it's untrue. Seriously, Lescott isn't worth that kind of money, there are very few footballers who ARE worth that kind of money let alone defenders (who, in general, are cheaper than strikers/goalscorers).

IF we get Lescott, and based on certain snippets of information I've read on this forum I believe we will, the fee will be more in the £18m - £20m bracket. In fact I'd say £20m would be the absolute top end value, the point were we go elsewhere and get someone cheaper, maybe an older centre half like Toure, or someone from the continent where prices aren't so inflated.

Reports emerging suggesting Everton ready to get Gary Cahill from Bolton to replace him and have some left over. Sounds like things should progress quite soon then.

Good news that we finally looking to sign Lescott, but fancied Gary Cahill also, young English and from the Notlob lot reckon he was there player of the season by a mile.

Be a great signing for Everton. SLip seamlessly into their team.

Not had the consistency of lescott i.e 2-3 seasons playing at a high level, but if your talking 5-8 million, Everton have a good replacement,Jo and 12 million in the bank.

Everybodys happy
