Your right about the player Hughes has brought in. I have some question marks over players like RSC who missed a lot of the season through injury and only has one decent year in the premier league, but City do have a very good 1st team now. I think Hughes has done everything he can to build a team that will gel, but it'll still take time and he's still not secured the most important signing yet which is at least one top quality CB. If he gets 2 CB's and adds that to the rest it really is a lot
of new players to gel in to the team regardless of their premier league experience.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that there is a need to see the end of August position - the money / backing we have been so very very lucky to get is actually creating a different position to that which has existed before – even with Chelsea under RA

A lot is made of this focus on strikers – but the media want to portray it negatively – they do not want any disruption to the Sky 4 – but our dealings have been quite strategic and the only ones that have become in the public domain are those in general leaked by the other party, e.g. Terry by Chelsea and Lescott by Everton.

Take an objective look – does this approach really make you think that we will not have plans for the defence?? It is clear that we are going for Terry and Lescott – well that would probably be the best CB partnership in the Prem – just like Etoo / Adebayor – we will have contingency plans – probably in the RB areas as well – Hughes has been given this hot (09/10 season) – and he has been given unstinting backing – he will use it all over the pitch – if not Terry and / or Lescott – it will be others

Also msuch is made of things like RSC – injury record etc – but we are (again so very very lucky) to be a club that can go for a ‘genuine’2 of quality in every position – I think that RSC is back up for Ade – not bad at all when you think like that

Just forget the name CITY – but if you saw one of the Sky 4 team step out in August with

------------------------ Given --------------------------------

Zabalatta ---- Terry ----------------Lescott--------------Brdige

-------------------------de jong -----------------------------

--------------Ireland------------------Barry--------------------

-----------Tevez--------------------------Robbie--------------

-------------------------Adebayor------------------------------

With SWP and Petrov to add width – RSC to back up Adebayor, Bellemey and SWP to back up Tevez, Bojiinov to back up Robbie – then Kompany, Elano, Johnson, Dunne, Onuaha, Richards and a host of top academy players – people would be thinking that is a team to challenge – I just hope that everyone just keeps taken us lightly

Its a good team i'll give you that. I've highlight the 2 players where I think you'll fall short of the top 4 this season, however the year after could be different if you got genuine class in to replace them.

toffee andy why do you think de jong isnt top class yes he lacks in height but in terms of tackling ability etc he is right up there mascherano!

Article from 'We've got Robiniho website'

Right I am ready for the stick that I might get but when I get told something like this I am going to share it just in case it turns out to be true.

So here goes, last night I received some information about a deal for Joleon Lescott. I was told that a deal for him has been done for a figure around the 20 million pound mark. I was also told that it hasn't been let out yet because Everton do not want clubs that they may want to buy off to know that they have money, hence helping their negotiation process.

Like I said I do not know if it is true, all I can say is that the person who told me also told me about Robinho's rape case a couple of weeks before that leaked.

Do we want this to be true?

I can understand the 2 you pointed out - not because I agree with you - it is just that you would have to be a CITY fan to have seen some of their qualities.

But that said - I have a 'sneaking we may do something there as well'

I love Zabaletta - his work rate and as a tackler - but I think our system will require a RB (and LB) that can get down the wing and cross - allowing Rob and Teves to move inside - not a strong point for Zab - even worse for Richards - I was hoping we might have gone for Maicon

De Jong could be an immense player (IMO) but I know he has not got the same support from a lot of CITY players - and I just wonder if there is anything in this Alonso rumour - I know that this might seem gratuitous - and of course he wants to go to Madrid - but all we have to offer is money - and it will be his last contract

But perhaps this is too fanciful - but if we do not strengthen - Zab and Nigel would do for me - it is the CBs that are the priority
