Conventional pricing cannot be applied. Everton do not want to weaken themselves, understandably. Clearly we will have to pay over the odds for him. We can afford to. I can't see them turning down 25 million which represents a third of their turnover! Is he worth that to us? Last piece of the jigsaw and all that......

looking at the bigger picture, we've managed, more or less, to avoid paying unreasonable prices this summer. Would Khaldoun and Hughes be happy to let that perception slip? 25m for Lescott would be the most 'expensive' by far. Upson would be available for around half that price.

That part of Everton's site just copy and paste's all the stories that are in the press, whether they are to do with Everton or not. Everton probably will reject the latest offer, but there's nothing official about that article whatsoever. It's just a copy and paste job. Here's the full list of all the latest news stories on the site:

50/50 bud .
In my opinion , the offer is too low , and serves to do little more than unsettle our pre-season preparations .
If I was asked to give my own opinion though , I think he will stay , and perhaps the situation may be reviewed in January .

What do you think Everton will accept?

£25m?

I posted many months ago that a minimum of £25 mill would be required .
Of course that was only my opinion , but it was before City started spending . I think he is a much better player than either Toure or Johnson , and would imagine City will need to at least reach that mark before Moyes ears open .
£25-30 Mill would still be my guess , but I still think he'll stay ..

no way city will offer that. going on recent deals, I would expect the third offer to be the last, unless everton encourage a fourth. I would imagine city would not offer more than 20-22m, and that they'll want it sorted one way or the other in the next week.

I can't see us offering that either but thats probably what it'll take to get him if he doesn't request a move

yep! sorry for not reading your post closely enough.

Oh, the £19m bid was probably just testing Everton's stance.

Maybe if this gets rejected, City will place a big bid.

Who knows?

tbf I find that a strange page to put on your OS... Everton are expected to formally reject an improved bid? Why not say you are rejecting it or wait until you do publicly and then make the most of it on your site? Or is it just me who thinks that is strange?

It must be addressed formally by the board and replied to accordingly , hence the delay .

So let the board discuss it then put it on your site. To me it looks like your bracing the fans for his departure. Just dont see the point in putting that up on the OS, whats to say the board (at the end of the day they are in charge not DM) wont turn around and say "£19m is to good to refuse, sell him!"? Do you see my point?

Probably not. I'd guess we'll have one more go at around 21 mill and then move on to Upson.

i can see this being another kakagate, ronaldinhogate, terrygate and bloody etogate,if we want him that bad then ask what they want for him and pay it rather than faff about.

if not walk away and go and get someone else(if we really need it ? )

If Everton aren't prepared to sell for £18m we should move onto other targets.

I agree mate, Lescott would be an improvement on what we've got but I don't think he's worth anywhere near £18 Million. Fair enough we've got fantastic backing and the price will always go up for City, Chelsea etc. But more than 18 million is just silly, if Everton don't want to sell, fine. For £20million+ you would expect a world class Defender and Lescott is not world class, he wouldn't be more than a squad player at any of the top 4 teams. I can appreciate why Hughes wants to bring him in, he's used to the premier league, left footed and in the England squad, but when you get quoted stupid amounts for players not worth it, it's time to take a risk on a quality player from abroad.
